My sincere condolences to you.
What’s your favorite story about him? This thread is timely for me. My Dad passed away a few years ago. I took care of him for nine years of diabetes. I went to see him nearly every day at his home or the hospital. Eventually he had a stroke and seeing him struggle to maintain a tough image when I went to see him made me think I shouldn’t see him. So as to not burden him more. I saw him on Sunday and by the next Saturday the doctor told me I had to make a choice of heroic measures. I choose to let him pass with some dignity. I was going to go and just sit with him and he passed in the night. I hate that I let him die alone. It nags at me that I didn’t just go and hold his hand.

It is done.
His death finishes his duty on this earth. Honor him and carry further the burden of righteousness in his memory. Prove to the living he has done well. Rejoice in his proud rest. |

I just returned from finalizing all the arrangements. Pop will go out in a respectful and dignified way. I have moments when it seems Impossible that he's gone. But, I find myself feeling at peace. Again, thanks for the kind words. You guys have truly made this difficult time somewhat make sense.

Hang in there
My mom died last summer, it sucks. Just reading your thread makes me cry again. It never goes away but I think thats only because they meant so much to us. |

Well, it has come to an end.
We buried Pop yesterday. I found peace in the fact that he is no longer suffering and is now reposing next to Mom for eternity. I wanted to once again thank you all for the support and kind words as they did help me through this difficult time. Thanks, Mike

"Pneumonia is an old man's friend"
-some kind nurse Dad passed at 77. Too young. Bastard left early when selfish/needy I wanted him around most. He was always gone before growing up. So oh well. |
