Tesla will remain publicly traded, CEO Elon Musk announced over the weekend.

Shares slid as much as 5% ahead of Monday's opening bell, and are set to open down about 2.7%.

The decision will allow the company to focus on Model 3 production and profitability, Musk said.

I guess the SEC will sort it out.

I'm guessing that Musk was in talks with some Saudis about taking the company private, he had some preliminary talks and some agreement in principle, and his tweet scared them off.

It's all very public, there were talks but never any agreement (not even in principle). The odd thing is that he didn't tweet about it until long after the Saudis gave him the Heisman. He's loosely blamed it on Ambien use (the sleeping man does do/say odd things) but it's pretty obvious the stress has him outside himself whether it be organic or chemically enhanced.

He's losing it. He kept the facade up too long and can't live up to the hype he generated. If he ran a restaurant in NYC I would expect "Jewish lightning" (a grease fire) to burn the place down and not reopen after the insurance payout. In the meantime, it looks like the SEC didn't take too kindly to his tricks and will be visiting soon.

Tesla's Semi truck has already made some city-to-city trips, but how does it fare on cross-country jaunts -- you know, what it'll be doing when it enters service? Just fine, if you ask Elon Musk. In response to an Electrek piece on the Semi's latest visit (to Arkansas trucking behemoth J.B. Hunt), the CEO noted that the Semi has been traveling thousands of miles entirely by itself, using the existing Supercharger network. The only necessary help is an "extension cord" to help the truck plug in. To be exact, it's a system of cords that plugs into multiple stations at once to top up the Semi's giant battery before the company's Megachargers come online.

Posting in this thread because this is where I've posted all of my thoughts on Tesla and because I don't necessarily think a thread about a family member buying a Tesla is the place to discuss problems with the overall company. I do think a thread about all the fancy new products Tesla rolls out to hide the company's inherent weakness is a better forum.

Just hours after Elon Musk appeared on a comedy podcast, where he smoked pot, demonstrated his flamethrower and mused philosophically, Tesla's chief accounting officer unexpectedly gave notice he’s resigning just one month into the job, citing the level of scrutiny on the electric-car maker.

"Since I joined Tesla on August 6th, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations," Dave Morton, former CFO for hard-drive maker Seagate Technology said in a Tesla regulatory filing.

"This caused me to reconsider my future. I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission, and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla’s leadership or its financial reporting."

Morton's departure comes just months after the last Chief Accounting Officer, Eric Branderiz, resigned from Tesla back in March of this year. The company spent a couple of months looking to fill the position, which they finally did in August of this year with Morton.

But wait, there's more because not long after we reported that Gabrielle Toledano, the company’s chief people officer, said she was taking a leave of absence, she told Bloomberg News that she won’t be rejoining the company.

The stock plunged as much as 8.5% to $256 in pre-market trading, just shy of the 2018 lows of $252 hit in early April.

And once it crashes to $0, they can't blame him, they had all the time in the world to exit the position.
