Here is a better homemade rocket video. 121,000 feet. good on-board camera, and people are still debating flat vs. round in the comment section.

It is easy to think whatever you like so long as you deny and modify that which doesn't support your view.

Didn't wear Lederhosen, but did wear suspenders and I liked em.

They are going to come in especially comfy today as I will not have to loosen my belt to enjoy the Thanksgiving Feast.

Personally, I'm amazed that we still have individuals debating whether or not we're on a big sphere-like rock. What more do they want as proof?

At 1800’, how will he be able to conclude if the world is flat or curved?

RKDinOKC 11-23-2017 06:31 PM

Go to 1800', shake the Magic 8-ball, then read the answer on the bottom?

Space just has to be viewed the correct way.

At the micro level the parts becomes the most 'flat' and his theory the most correct.
Only a .00000000000000000000001% variance in 'flatness' let's say.
And the whole is the sum of all parts.
When the earth is then reassembled from individual flat parts, that variance is retained and the earth result is flat.

I totally agree. What is a tool used here on terra firma but useless elsewhere? Have you ever seen it used in outer space? I haven't. The moon (which is round)? Nope. We're flat.

There are hundreds of pilots at the local airports that would let him climb into their small aircraft. He can get to several thousand feet pretty easy. And very safely.

This^^.

The Rocket Man of the OP is simply a hustler, IMO, and has latched onto the Flat Earther movement to scrounge up more money for his "adventure." He no more believes the Earth is flat than did Neil Armstrong.

I don't know the author of that blog, but he should have stayed away from the political or the subjective - I had trouble getting past his first premise. Further, he should have shown evidence of his thesis on both sides of political debates, rather than choose WMD and Reagan's Welfare Queen as his examples.

Even the NYTimes - the Old Gray Liberal Lady - came to believe there were literally tons of WMD in Iraq.

WMD

The Welfare Queen as excerpted from Slate (emphasis mine, cittion below)

"Though Reagan was known to stretch the truth, he did not invent that woman in Chicago. Her name was Linda Taylor, and it was the Chicago Tribune, not the GOP politician, who dubbed her the “welfare queen.” It was the Tribune, too, that lavished attention on Taylor’s jewelry, furs, and Cadillac—all of which were real.

As of 1976, Taylor had yet to be convicted of anything. She was facing charges that she’d bilked the government out of $8,000 using four aliases. As witnesses described her brazen pilfering from public coffers, she remained impassive, an unrepentant defendant bedecked in expensive clothes and oversize hats.

When her sentence was up, she changed her name and left Chicago, and the cops who had pursued her in Illinois lost track of her whereabouts. None of the police officers I talked to knew whether she was still alive.

When I set out in search of Linda Taylor, I hoped to find the real story of the woman who played such an outsize role in American politics—who she was, where she came from, and what her life was like before and after she became the national symbol of unearned prosperity. What I found was a woman who destroyed lives, someone far more depraved than even Ronald Reagan could have imagined. In the 1970s alone, Taylor was investigated for homicide, kidnapping, and baby trafficking. The detective who tried desperately to put her away believes she’s responsible for one of Chicago’s most legendary crimes, one that remains unsolved to this day. Welfare fraud was likely the least of the welfare queen’s offenses."

Linda Taylor, welfare queen: Ronald Reagan made her a notorious American villain. Linda Taylor’s other sins were far worse.

Indeed^^.

Truth be told, a level would work on the moon, as it does have a gravitational field. The simple fact is, there was no apparent need of one on any moon landings, or if there was one, it was never reported as it was not necessary to do so.

South Park had a great episode about this--a spoof of the History Channel ("The History Channel--where truth is history") and the constant links to "aliens." To paraphrase the episode, the "investigators" claim that, after a thorough and complete analysis of diaries and manuscripts from the Pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving, they could find no mention that alien creatures were not present. Therefore, the claim of aliens present must be considered as a valid option.

Now if they are suggesting that the universe is a hologram well that is an interesting argument and if thought through provides great dialogue on many different fronts.
