Though the website that is linked to the story is recent, the Ringo and McCartney "interviews" are fake and from 2015. The "news" source for the interviews is akin to The Onion and specifically states that it is "for entertainment purposes only."

Absolutely fake news.

Well there you have it-fake news (on the accepted authority of ossiblue's research).
Even though Paul is really Paul and not Billy or Faul, I still am blown away by the way they wove such a case that half the world were tearing up their albums and needles playing stuff backwards and many believed he really had died.

The real McCartney would have never written that POS Christmas song!

Yes, Paul died in 1966... but captain James T Kirk flew the enterprise back in time then Dr. McCoy used their future medical technology to bring him back to life. All that because Spock was a huge Beatles fan.

I really don't think that the band had much to do with creating, or helping to propagate, the hoax that Paul was dead. They were probably quite amused by the whole thing as being just another example of the insatiable curiosity that was focused on them. There was an unprecedented hysteria that surrounded the Beatles when they became a sensation in Britain in 1962-63. No one had ever seen anything on a scale like this before, not even with Elvis.
People poured over every scrap of information they could find on the Beatles in hopes of learning something new about them...yes, even playing their records backwards in an effort to find hidden messages. One rumor fed off another until the whole crazy story took on a life of its own.
Recording and touring occupied almost every waking moment of the Beatles' lives in the early '60s. I doubt they had enough spare time at that point to sit down and hatch some elaborate plan just to F'k with people's heads.

I agree that Beatlemania was very powerful but, look at the list of things that were put into places over numerous albums. Some are prolly just coincidence but there is way too much to just be accident. Past the early years, the Beatles had a massive amount of artistic control over their albums. No way the label snuck in that much stuff.

And I'm certain Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was a drawing by John's daughter, where do people come up with these wacky ideas?

Those 'clues' in the first post are pretty obscure and just reaching for something that really isn't there. People WANTED to believe these rumors, so they saw 'evidence' where there was none and turned random bits of trivia into 'proof' that Paul was dead. Kind of like seeing the Virgin Mary's image in a slice of toast, or thinking that every unidentifiable light in the night sky is an extraterrestrial space ship.

i'll take one great Wings song over the entire solo catalog of the other three. John was the only other one that did anything worth hearing.

I saw Paul's robot replacement perform in November 2005 at the arrowhead pond/Honda center/place in Anaheim where the ducks play.
Darn good performance, prolly the best I've ever seen.
They've done wonders with animatronics.

They'd have to be an old fart. That was over 52 years ago.

We've got old farts here. I would've been there if I could've.
