electrican brain trust...
I bought a Dewalt 12 amp corded blower. Anybody know what gauge electrical cord would work with 100 feet of cord?

I think you would want a 12 gauge cord. I run 15 amp power tools off a 100 ft 12 with no ill effects, and have for years. I run my blower to 150 feet off of 12 gauge.

Thanks Daniel. Read the instruction booklet, and they had no suggestions. Good to know.

Electrical code says 50 meters for residential 20 amp circuit. 38 meters for 15 amps. 12 gauge and 14 gauge respectively. when you incur voltage drop because of distance the amperage draw increases because of their inverse relationship and things get warm. table 68 rule 8-102 (2)

The last time I bought an extension code the paper wrapper had the rating levels on it. If the Lowes you bought it at is like mine, every department has "an old guy" who knows everything about that department.

Actually, the local home depot didn't have the blower in stock, so I took their offer of free shipping. To be on the safe side, went to the local farm store, bought 100' of 12 gauge. Tossing the old cord that got twisted & worn after a couple of decades or so of being towed behind the old blower that blew...Seems to me I spend half my life blowing debris off the patio and driveway...groan. So, should be all set now.
