Porsche's Response to the 911R Resale Prices - the GT3 Touring!

With the 911R resale prices through the roof at nearly double, if not triple the original $185k MSRP; many hardcore Porschephiles that weren't able to get their hands on 1 of the 991 'Rs' produced may now have something to be brag about themselves - the all-new GT3 Touring.

The wingless model, "...gets an updated version of the R's 4.0-liter flat-six, the same horsepower as the R but 500 more usable revs before tapping out, and the same $144,650 MRP as the current GT3; according to Autoblog.

Are you pleased with this release as an "alternative" to the 911R, or does it miss its mark? Let us know your thoughts below!

To me, this model is a perfect addition to the line up.
When you don't want every Lambo-Fazzaz-Vette- Subaru "racer" challenging your be-winged GT3 or GT3Rs at every stop light, this is the car you buy.

While it won't have the down force, on the track , the majority of sane street enthusiasts will be able to fill the mirrors of their "badder brethren" in the twisties and straights.

And the significant other might be confused if this truly is your mid life crisis toy

Seriously, this is a good move on Porsche's part. Just the right amount of subtle

Good move on Porsche's part. They will sell a lot of them. If a few speculators get burned, well I am OK with that. I know Ferrari gets all bent out of shape if a customer flips a high end Ferrari.

I am just guessing, Porsche knows their market just a little better than a bunch of customers of an American BBS.

How about the transmission? Wasn't having a stick a big part of the R's allure?

I like it, what was the 911R hp rating? 500?

I wonder if it has a back seat, or if like the other GT3's is front seats only?
