Thinking of buying a new Hemi

A new VINTAGE Hemi that is., 426ci. of course. They can be had at Indy Cylinder Head
and a few other places. Anybody been there done that as far as Hemi engines go?

They're not giving them away so have to do a bit of research. Actually the local Dodge dealer maybe able to get us one. New crate. We'll find out Monday.

They can be a costly thing to fix so I think a used unit from ebay, for example, is a bit risky. The thing most likely to break on a Hemi? Your bank account.

The guy I work for seems to "need" one, so I kinda volunteered to help locate. I love my work.

Seem to be from $17,500 -$25,000 or more. We think we can get a long block
from the local dodge dealer for $15,500. But we'll see what Monday brings. It might not happen, but it's fun looking.

My friend has a charger and he'd like to build a tribute car like Buddy Bakers blue #88 that turned the first 200+ mph. Not easy and not cheap. But.... It's his $$

This one would do the trick,

Bakers car

I doubt it. The heads may be affordable, but I doubt the alum block would be. Only ones I know of would be Keith Black, he's out of our league.

Thanks NOTA, I had just been looking at that site. Under big crate engines the 426 465 horse is the one we're looking at for $17000, but we think the local dealer has that engine for 15,500, kind of as a promo. (People don't drop in every day to purchase one). Sounds like a bargain to me. ('course it's not my money)

Good fun.

Thinking of buying a new Hemi

Wow, amazing they are so expensive. More than the 3.2 liter hemi in my 911 And it is an aluminum block!

Probably just go into the corner of the garage for now. We've thoughts of building a Dodge Daytona or a Superbird, but..... no matter how you look at it that would be EXPENSIVE, motor, donor car, kit for the snout and big wing,
rear window has to be changed etc Big $$$ So it might not happen, but everybody should have a 426 Hemi right?

So if we get this engine (hemi) it might just go in a charger or a cuda as a street musclecar.

I doNOT think a hemi will fit in the early cuda as it is too small
67 and later cars were a bit bigger and did use the hemi

Doesn't look like much now, but it will at a later date, I think. Pretty solid (and affordable) old car IMO

Now to get that Hemi ordered!
