RTIC's manufacturing facility is about 5 miles from here...

I bought a few of the Ozark Trail editions from Walmart - they do the trick very well. I have about 5 different styles.....including the 'wine glass' style! ;)

I don't see the point
a beer lasts me at most 15 minutes coffee - I let it cool and then drink it in 5 minutes on the way into work Why do I need a cup that will keep things hot or cold for hours. A fresh beer is cold and a fresh coffee is hot... I don't care what temp my red wine is Coolers that hold ice for days on end are nice - my old metal banded coleman from the late 1970's does that....... |
50-400 Dollars to have a decal that you can put on your car....not for me

I've known people to get the 1 gallon, and 64 ounce yeti. Never really saw the point compared to a camelbak.

YETI = Yuppies: Expensive To Impress
I have a double-walled metal (steel) mug I bought about 20 years ago with an evacuated chamber (vacuum) between the inner and outer walls. Forget the brand, it wasn’t cheap by any means but wasn’t stupid / Yeti expensive either. IIRC maybe $40 in 1990s dollars. It’s been awesome and keeps hot coffee steaming hot after 10-12 hours. I like nice / quality stuff but see no reason to spend more for marketing / brand names. Heck, 99% of it is all made in the same sweatshops in China anyway and a lot of what’s out there for “name brand” is counterfeit these days unless you go direct to the source! |
Used to take a thermos of cold milk, juice, koolaid, or hot cocoa, soup to school in grade school. The thermos fit into a metal lunch box. The thermos lid was even a cup. Didn't have Yeti or RTIC logo, but it did have all the characters from Bonanza on it.

40 for a mug, no. But sometimes a warm drink is priceless. |

Lid: $1.38 (really- for this price I'll just drink coffee out of the Lowes 5 gallon containers. It may not stay warm, but the volume is right.) Hell- I can just buckle it in to the passenger's seat. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1514239529.jpg |
The Yeti and I go way back. 😎

Conspicuous spending is a trend that marketers have recognized, and some are all over it. The hyped image is very appealing to some buyers and the market makers are happy to satisfy. Kind of a win win in a sick and very profitable way.
High profile auto auctions are another good example. It is interesting to watch. Unfortunately it leads to a disconnect between value and cost that can impact entire markets. Ala 60s muscle cars. Oh well there are other choices for those of us not so inclined. Cheers Richard |
Living in sunny FL I always have a can of something all day long. It's important to keep hydration going, I did pick up a $22 Yeti can holder on sale and I do like it.
That said, i wouldn't spend any more on the brand, but I do think the product is good. |
