Looks distantly similar to the last Mad Max movie. Is that Kate Beckinsale? If so, another reason to see this one.

"Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.
Mortal Engines is the startling, new epic adventure directed by Oscar®-winning visual-effects artist Christian Rivers (King Kong). Joining Rivers are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies three-time Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who have penned the screenplay. The Universal and MRC adaptation is from the award-winning book series by Philip Reeve, published in 2001 by Scholastic. On board as producers are Zane Weiner (The Hobbit trilogy), Amanda Walker (The Hobbit trilogy) and Deborah Forte (Goosebumps), as well as Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (The Hobbit trilogy) joins Boyens as executive producer. Universal will distribute the film worldwide. www.mortalengines.com" Peter Jackson alone makes it very interesting. "Mortal Engines is an upcoming New Zealand-American science fiction action adventure film directed by Christian Rivers and written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson. It is based on the novel of the same name by Philip Reeve. The film is set in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world where entire cities have been mounted on wheels and motorised, and prey on one another. It stars Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. In a dystopian future, cities built on huge wheels roam Earth for precious resources. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 14, 2018." Yeah, there are a few sci-fi movies coming, and that one looks like it could be interesting.
I thought this looked like it could be interesting too, but in a very different way. This might be interesting as well.

I have really tried to enjoy Sci-Fi movies, but really prefer epic historical movies. These three trailers above don't interest me.

At times in my life, I have been a voracious reader. I have always loved sci-fi movies, but I rarely get into sci-fi books. I have always preferred fantasy (magic, nights, etc...) books. I also enjoy regular fiction and non-fiction historical. So, I guess you liked Gladiator, Braveheart, that sort of thing? I really enjoyed both of those. A lot actually.

Sounds a bit like a Harlan Ellison novel.
I expect it will be good. |

So just another take on the apocalypse? It make me miss the old Star Trek series more.

I haven't read the books for Mortal Engines but it could be an interesting idea if executed properly. I did read the Wiki page for the series and it has some interesting ideas but could easily become a shadow of itself during the translation to film.
I have read Ready Player One and only one or two scenes from either trailer are true to the book. I have seen enough from the trailers to make me very cautious on this one. I get a sense that Spielberg took, what was a good book, and put his spin on it. And not necessarily for the better. I will probably see the movie but I'm already lowering my expectations. I have not read the book for Annihilation, but it does look interesting. I have enjoyed the films that the director has already directed.
