2018 looks like it will be a big one for our family. Steve is opening a new branch for the company that he works for - so that may mean a move for us down the road a bit.
On my end, my husband has convinced me to write a book. Sort of a "DOT for Dummies" type of book. He has been bugging me to write it for years, but what made this time different is that he will fund the time off from work to write the book. I'm excited to do it, but as far as the publishing, marketing, etc., goes - I'm absolutely drawing a blank. No idea how any of that works. angela

I have three unmanned air systems in play next year.
We are teamed with Northrop Grumman on Dash X - a UAS that fits insight a bomb shape and goes on the wing of electronic warfare F-18G's. We finished Phase I last year and had great success - after initial flight test, we flew in a large Naval Exercise. An F-18 was able to receive data from the NGC electronic payloads two airborne Dash X then take control of the air vehicles and upload new flight plans. A first for the Navy. Folded inside a SUU-64: Unfolded. ![]() Last year we ground launched Dash X. In the coming 18 months we will be going store and separation testing from the jet. That is Phase II Here is an article: The Navy's Electronic-Warfare Planes Could Soon Become 'Motherships' | The National Interest Blog Next is Watchman: ![]() Ducted fan UAS that we are working with the USMC in FY18 for live fire demos. Watchman can be tethered to armored vehicles or untethered. They want to be able to put Watchman up and gather EO/IR data for targeting and damage assessment...among other things. Great project and the Marines have been incredible. Lastly, this thing: ![]() It is a blended wing lifting body UAS. We are designing a smaller version that can be thrown out the back of a C-130 for search and rescue, Special Ops support, etc. My partner is on the left. The design won a number of awards in Paris in 2016. They have asked us the show in Paris again to display Dash X. He is a freaking genius. All three are real UAS that fly. We designed, tooled, made and assembled all three. So far so good!

My partner and I have several new clients that are ready to keep us virtually overwhelmed with projects. We will be joining up with several companies and likely signing the lease on two or maybe three Cessna 172s.

Very impressed with the responses so far....much respect and admiration for the enterprising spirit!
My goal is to continue easing back on the throttle and shrinking the hamster wheel so I can enjoy some personal time for a change. I never thought reaching the age of 64 (next June) would feel old but unless I have more time for myself, it will. Carpe Diem and tallyho to all....... ![]()

I guess top of my list is I'd like to stay alive as being dead in 2017 wasn't that much fun for my family
2018 will be a year of seeing more of the world with my family, got a NY city trip and a 5000 mile Euro road trip planned For work, a few Jaguar Formula E race wins would be a bonus and I think it's time for my company to move onto helping another company/team. Got nothing planned but hopefully it will be a suitably interesting/challenging car project. If there isn't anything interesting I'll spend my time being a full time builder and double the size of my house adding my dream garage and work shed.

I'm hoping 2018 provides me with a full year (hopefully more) of no major health problems. 2017 brought on another round of chemotherapy in October/November, and a decreasing heart EF which culminated in me getting a pacemaker/defibrillator in early November, of which I am just now back to full work functionality.
I'm honestly hoping for less work hours, and more fun with friends/family which results in smiles/laughs. I'm really tired of hitting my health care out-of-pocket limit expenses every year, and just want to be healthy/happy. I'm hoping my son can continue his excelling at being a diesel tech at UNOH, and my daughter can find a permanent CAD job that makes her happy after graduating earlier this month from a tech school. My wife also needs to work far less hours, and make more money (both of which are being implemented soon) at her job, to make her healthier, and happier. I would like to change out a few vehicles, and spend more time camping/traveling, and looking forward to retirement in a few years. Last edited by ckelly78z; 12-26-2017 at 11:36 AM.. |

Keep breathing, keep driving, keep shooting pool. Modest goals at age 74, but they are mine. Not much desire for more stuff or more adventure. Glad I did all that other stuff earlier in life.

2018 is up in the air for me as of this past week on several fronts. Unsure of what is going to happen.
Got my 928GTS 5spd out of the shop. Which is good an bad. Put it in the shop not long after i stepped on a nail that basically robbed me of being physically able to Heel and Toe. Takes all the fun out of driving a 5 speed, especially driving in anger. But yea, it is out of the shop and running great. Not sure whether to keep it and drive it, or sell it. GTSs have gotten to be worth a lot more than I paid for it since I bought it. Also have a new big boss and some other things at work making the future of the company kind of iffy.

I'm hoping to close on a new shop by the middle of the year, get either my caramelized onions or salsa into Whole Foods, model new, narrower "modern" Turbo flares and have fenders and quarters made from carbon fiber and might get married along the way. We'll see. Going to one hell of a fun year!
