Rose Tico sucks.

Things I do like. I like that Luke / Rey dynamic echoing the Yoda / Luke training. I like that Rose's background story is similar to Anakin's.

I actually liked the fight scenes between KR & Rey / Luke...

Things I didn't like: Rose Tico's final scene...I really hate her for it. I'm glad she's dead.

Really didn't like this movie. Too many cringe-worthy moments overshadowed by weak dialogue for my taste...and I usually go to the movies to be entertained not a critic. At 48, I think I'm just too old for the demographic the franchise is playing in. If I had to pick something to like, it would be the connection and chemistry between Kilo and Rey, I enjoyed how that played out.

super funny how Luke had to milk that sea-cow thing..hahah..

no wonder he put on a ton of weight :)

We liked the movie, but waited until last week to see it (about 30 people in the theater).

Ren is obviously the new Luke, the bad guy only told her that her parents were junk dealers who sold her off, he could have been a lie to throw her off her game (he is a bad guy after all). On the other hand if she is a natural Jedi it supports the new theme that 'the force' is not a thing.

Like that the bad guy lost the silly mask, now they need to do something about that hair.

Didn't like the Yoda scene, I know he is a fake doll... but he looked like a fake plastic doll...I mean with a the CGI we have now they couldn't have done better?

I thought Yoda blew up the books? That would also add to the theme the the force is not a thing but a spirit.

What are they going to do about Leia?

It wasn't *that* bad... Visually very pretty... funny even.

Granted there was zero point to the whole Montecarlo-ish casino story arc since that went nowhere in the end, it was a little disjointed, they didn't need to kill off Luke, and on the flip side they had a perfect death for Leia and didn't use it.. I feel bad for Phasma, 2 movies where she could have been a badass but isn't.. So it was sloppy... But still good fun...

On the positive side, no Lucas spastic scene cutoffs every 15 seconds, no jar jar bings, overall the resistance gets their arse kicked, and Kylo Renn was a much better villain this time around. There's just no pleasing everyone, anyway..

I agree wholeheartedly on this point. When she gets blasted out into space, I figured this is how they wrap up her storyline, but no. Instead she Supermans back into the ship (something NO ONE HAS EVER DONE or even been mentioned being able to do in Star Wars), and survives the movie. Now she will (have to?) die off-screen, which IMO, is a cheap way to go.

hell, there are only like 9 rebels left..she better be alive. i bet the opening scene in the next film will be her in some water tank hooked up to tubes and a big airtube tied to her face..like the one that saved Luke. her sister was a badass.

They gained a stronger Rey and a smarter Poe.

And that littler sweeper boy.

sammyg2 01-02-2018 08:43 AM

Saw it yesterday, on my annual trip to the movie theater.

it was well worth the $8 (matinee price, that shouldn't surprise anyone ;) ).

And no, I wasn't dumb enough to pay another $8 for a large popcorn or soda

BTW, I find it hard to believe that Vice-Admiral Holdo's brother killed John Wayne!

Pazuzu 01-02-2018 08:50 AM

Man, remember that time in A New Hope when Luke shoots a damned missile into a hole with his mind only!? WTF? They never showed anyone doing that before, it was a totally made up Force Trick just to move the movie forward, so stupid.

Man, remember that time in A New Hope when Obi Wan convinces some stormtroppers to let them by with his mind only!? WTF? They never showed anyone doing that before, it was a totally made up Force Trick just to move the movie forward, so stupid.

Man, remember that time in A New Hope when Obi Wan gets chopped in half with a lightsaber but he really disappears instead!? WTF? They never showed anyone doing that before, it was a totally made up Force Trick just to move the movie forward, so stupid.

Man, remember that time in The Last Jedi when Luke projects his Force self to another location and fools people into thinking he's there!? WTF? They never showed anyone doing that before, it was a totally made up Force Trick just to move the movie forward, so stupid.

What happens to the unprotected human body in space?

As demonstrated by the ailments that plague ISS astronauts returning to Earth, we're simply not built for space. What would happen to a human fired out of an airlock?

It's a recurring horror in sci-fi: the hull is pierced, a human is trapped without equipment in an airlock about to open, a door needs to be opened in order to expel something undesirable. With no air and almost zero pressure, the human body isn't going to last long without some form of protection.

But what does happen, exactly? Do your eyes explode outward while your blood evaporates? Well, no. The truth is both less dramatic and far more fascinating -- as we have discovered through accidents in space and in test chambers, and animal experimentation in the 1960s.

The first thing you would notice is the lack of air. You wouldn't lose consciousness straight away; it might take up to 15 seconds as your body uses up the remaining oxygen reserves from your bloodstream, and -- if you don't hold your breath -- you could perhaps survive for as long as two minutes without permanent injury.

If you do hold your breath, the loss of external pressure would cause the gas inside your lungs to expand, which will rupture the lungs and release air into the circulatory system. The first thing to do if you ever find yourself suddenly expelled into the vacuum of space is exhale.

The other things, you can't really do much about. After about 10 seconds or so, your skin and the tissue underneath will begin to swell as the water in your body starts to vaporise in the absence of atmospheric pressure. You won't balloon to the point of exploding, though, since human skin is strong enough to keep from bursting; and, if you're brought back to atmospheric pressure, your skin and tissue will return to normal.

It also won't affect your blood, since your circulatory system is able to keep your blood pressure regulated, unless you go into shock. The moisture on your tongue may begin to boil, though, as reported by Jim LeBlanc, who was exposed to near vacuum in a test chamber in 1965. LeBlanc's suit sprung a leak, and he remained conscious for about 14 seconds; his last sensation was bubbling on his tongue (he was safely revived, as the researchers began repressurising the chamber almost immediately -- after about 15 seconds).

Because you will be exposed to unfiltered cosmic radiation, you can expect some nasty sunburn, and you'll probably also get a case of decompression sickness. You would not, however, freeze straight away, despite the extremely cold temperatures; heat does not leave the body quickly enough for you to freeze before you suffocate, due to the lack of both convection and conduction.

If you do die in space, your body will not decompose in the normal way, since there is no oxygen. If you were near a source of heat, your body would mummify; if you were not, it would freeze. If your body was sealed in a space suit, it would decompose, but only for as long as the oxygen lasted. Whichever the condition, though, your body would last for a very, very long time without air to facilitate weathering and degradation. Your corpse could drift in the vast expanse of space for millions of years.

Oh come on... obviously the force protected her ;)

Um, Carrie Fisher died:

Date of death: December 27, 2016
Place of death: Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA
Cause of death: Sleep apnea

sammyg2 01-02-2018 09:59 AM

He was talking about General Leia, not Carrie Fisher. Duh ;)

Maybe she'll disappear into a ghost like the rest of em.

At least they got the new bad guy to take off that DB mask!

They can bring Leia back as a head on one of those wheelchair cabinets with blinking yes/no lights like Captain Pike in Star Trek!

I thought Anakin was born by his mother and some kind of force manipulation thing by one of the dark masters. ie creating life. Hence the conflict in the Skywalker bloodline.

svandamme 01-02-2018 11:17 AM

I can't get over Kylo ren being such a useless douchenozzle.. I mean In the first movie he was mumbling to Vaders mask to psych his evil ness up..

And now he got itch slapped by his master, again for not being evil enough.
I totally expected him to start weeping in that scene

Then later on he faces Luke Kenobi who force tricks the shizzle out of him via the Force Interwebs.

Let's face it, his Sith name must be "Darth NancyBoy".

So much forgettable characters.
and Chewbacca who is guilt tripped into becoming a Vegan..

What ripoff.
