When may we discuss Star Wars?

i need to talk it thru.

should we make this a safe place for SPOILERS?

LEAKYSEALS951 12-29-2017 07:16 AM

We are here for you.

Sometimes it helps just to type it out to get it off your chest.

flatbutt 12-29-2017 07:24 AM

I feel ya bro. It's best to share.

Steve Carlton 12-29-2017 07:29 AM

I think it was already spoiled in another thread. Rotten movie, spoiled on Pelican.

vash 12-29-2017 07:40 AM

GLAD i saw the movie.

it was not that good!! so that girl is a natural JEDI? it took hard core YODA training for Luke to pick up that one rock..granted he was doing a handstand at the same time.

she got 1.5 lessons!! and the first lesson was the definition of the force.

OBI wan owned his old man jedi status. Luke was GET OFF MY LAWN type of jedi. literally.

how young to you have to be to see every Star Wars movie to the end? any guesses?

flatbutt 12-29-2017 07:55 AM

I'm not sure what you mean by your closing question. Young enough to not question the disbelief required? Old enough to enjoy just being entertained? Dunno. But there are many movies that I enjoy discussing more than watching.

vash 12-29-2017 08:05 AM

let me rephrase.

is there an end to the star wars franchise? there is a last movie planned right? will i be 90 years old when i see it.?

sc_rufctr 12-29-2017 08:17 AM

There's no end planned IMO. If the movies continue to make money then they'll keep making them.

berettafan 12-29-2017 08:19 AM

utterly forgettable movie. acting not quite on par with a 1990's tv series. shamefully lazy writing.

just a waste.

berettafan 12-29-2017 08:20 AM

to answer your last question I'd say the end was Empire. Rogue One gave it some life. everything else around those 3 has been poop.

Now that luke vaporized into thin millenial air, Rey will have to resort to youtube videos to learn the craft.

Star wars geeks have already suggested the Jedi books were stowed on the falcon. Perhaps... Blah blah blah....

I can suspend disbelief all day long (guardians of the galaxy is a good example- "hey look, a talking raccoon" - just fun science fantasy where anything goes), but suspending disbelief for the sake of lazy story writing is a whole different issue.

When movies of this magnitude come along, I think they needed to finish the script, set it down for a couple of weeks, and then come back to it with fresh heads.

In MY script- Rey turns to the dark side in VIII (while with Kylo and Snoke) and the movie ends, not only with the rebels effectively destroyed, but an evil Kylo, Snoke, and Rey at the helm. That would leave a very dark ending that would have disney execs trembling.

Rey then would go on to kill Luke herself in the beginning of IX. Infact- with TABS like confidence, I've got a rough outline of IX in my head already, which would kick the crappola out of whatever they will cobble together in the next movie.

Disney wouldn't like me for one minute! :D

vash 12-29-2017 11:10 AM

I thought they showed the Jedi owners manusl on the Falcon?

berettafan 12-29-2017 02:10 PM

I missed it if they did.

LWJ 12-29-2017 04:08 PM

I saw the manuals on the MF.

Movie was a big hit with my family. Me? It cleaned up some story lines. I hope the final of the trilogy is great. This one was a B- or C.

Jims5543 12-29-2017 04:49 PM

The more I think about the movie the more irritated I get about it.

I posted in another Star Wars thread, I could add about 4 more items to that thread.

We just saw a filler movie, I typically go and see it again a week or 2 later, not this one.

It was OK, I left with more questions than I walked in with and dumbfounded that certain plot lines were ignored or dismissed quickly.

i.e. - What happened to the Knights of Ren?

I can go on and on... to a fan that has followed the franchise closely since he was a teen and raised my kids being huge fans as well, we were all disappointed.

I laughed at my 14 y/o leaving the theater, he looked at me and asked that the heck did we just watch? He was pissed and really put off by the stupid, just in time for Christmas gifts, birds.

MRM 12-29-2017 05:03 PM

Guido drew first.

M.D. Holloway 12-29-2017 09:21 PM

She snagged the books so the religion isn't dead, and she isn't Hans' daughter or Luke's daughter or Obi Wans daughter - she is basically a peasant like Ainikan (sp). So you don't have to be of nobility to have the force.

I never really got in to the whole Star Wars thing. Its OK but I wouldn't wait in line to see it.

look 171 12-29-2017 09:59 PM

We just got in from seeing it with my kids. Wife and kids are big fan, but not into it like some of the nut cases out there. I was never a fan even when I was a kid. Hell, I still haven't seen the first one. A couple of my friends I grew up with are huge fans. They waited in line at mid night or some crazy thing like that to see all the others. They talked about it like if its their story and there families are involved.

I think its an OK movie, nothing to write home about but then I don't know the ins and outs of all the characters.
