Mexico will pay for it....and I'll chip in too :)

10 degrees here....cold enough for me...y'all can keep the rest :(

SiberianDVM 01-02-2018 03:19 AM

7°F this morning here in central South Carolina. Too cold for the Deep South, as evidenced by the county water supply being frozen, so my plant can't run until it thaws out. :(

A930Rocket 01-02-2018 03:22 AM

13* here in Cumming GA (just north of Atlanta).

onewhippedpuppy 01-02-2018 03:52 AM

We had negative temps over the weekend, currently a balmy 3 F. 50 by the weeeknd though!

billybek 01-02-2018 03:56 AM

-4 deg C or 24 deg F here this morning going above the freezing point for the first time in a few weeks....
The east looks locked in to some cold temps for a while.

cabmandone 01-02-2018 04:18 AM

-11 deg F this morning. I woke up to some frost on the windows of the house.... on the inside!

BTW, that's actual temp. the "feels like" is -28 negative freekin 28!!

NutmegCarrera 01-02-2018 04:44 AM

Has not been above Zero for a week+ here either.
Central Wisconsin. Not even “up north” as we would say.

I’m getting a little sick of suiting up like sir Edmund Hillary to take the dog out for the less than 10 minutes it takes him to look at me like I’m an idiot (I am) for being out there to begin with.

Of course, being off for 10 days straight during this mess really helps.

Thank goodness for our health and sanity.
I just listened to one of my co-workers rant for 10 min about his holiday with the in laws. 20 people in a 900 sqft house for a couple of days. Cats. He said there were cats. Lots of em. And about 4 dogs. And a couple birds. The in laws are hoarders apparently.

I guess 10 below and in my own home is sounding ok already.

what do you do about the salt? That's what makes me put the bike away every winter.

dafischer 01-02-2018 06:32 AM

The older I get, the more winter sucks. This weather does nothing to help that opinion.

This makes me sad. I'm going to be in Dayton in 3 weeks.

varmint 01-02-2018 07:42 AM

Got the Ural out yesterday. Did fine till I tried braking down an icy hill.

vash 01-02-2018 08:16 AM

i want to go somewhere blistering cold next winter. i've only been to the Denver area one record winter..i dont remember what it was like.

i just want to check it out.

if you have to work in a business suit. you get re-dressed at work? or you wear merino wool under the suit? do they make bigasspuffy business down coats? i suppose restaurants have spacious coat rooms?

i just need to check it out.

No, you really don't
And again
No, you really don't. Just trust me on this one.

If you really want to know what it's like, just go somewhere with a walk in freezer. Then imagine it 11 degrees colder if they have it set at zero. If you really want to get a feel for it, stick your head up by the fans on the evaporator.

Dayton is like a Sauna!
It's Zero here now and 11 in Dayton. Practically shorts and Tshirt weather!:D
It's supposed to be warmer by the weekend. Not sure I have ever wanted a week to pass by faster in my lifetime.

I may hose it off when it warms up above freezing, or I may not. I bought this bike as a commuter vehicle (KTM Duke). I plan on it being ugly and dirty...haven't cleaned it once yet:D

We have cold air and you have the hot air. LOL:)

VincentVega 01-02-2018 09:52 AM

The creek usually freezes, when it does, mid-late Jan until maybe mid-late feb. I saw the weather forecast but figured I had some time to put the bubbler out. Creek froze last friday. The woodstove is running just about flat out and its almost keeping up. Come on spring!

Jim Richards 01-02-2018 09:55 AM

Hey V^2, it's t-shirt weather here. Wanna go sailing?

Tervuren 01-02-2018 10:03 AM

I don't really notice much of a power difference with this weather in my 944, but holy cow the more modern car has electronics that tune it just right to pull a LOT of extra.

I feel like if I went to a drag strip it could add a couple MPH to my ET.

pete3799 01-02-2018 11:26 AM

Got to work at 6am this morning and started the Kenworth which has been parked out side but plugged in........it said -29*. let it warm up for 1/2 an hour. Loaded some sand, pulled out onto the main road, made it about 75 feet and it quit.
It restarted so i backed it back to the garage and changed both fuel filters. Ran the rest of the day fine. It's +6 now.

You don't want any exposed skin in this kind of weather.

To put the garbage out, I put on my Carhart coveralls (over jeans and a t-shirt), winter boots, heavy gloves, a scarf, ear muffs, a neoprene face mask, a balaclava, ski goggles, and a hat over that.

We're not going anywhere. The kids are staying in, and I usually let the older ones play in the snow. I have a two-month old and even taking her from the car into a store is a concern.

I shoveled the drive since it was light and fluffy and not worth trying to use the snow blower. I had my leather boots and jeans but wore a heavy coat, gloves hat and neoprene mask. I was plenty warm but we had gotten up to -3*. Also, do NOT sneeze in your neoprene mask. Ever.

One winter some salty spray got up under the tank on the R1100S. Caused all kinds of chaos. I ended up replacing a bunch of stuff and never did that again. Now the Duc just hibernates in the kitchen all winter starting with the first application of salt.

This is the main road thru my town.

Once the diesel fuel gels it's just easier to replace them.

Didn't find any water in them when i dumped them out but there may have been some still frozen inside. The fuel pressure gauge was showing around 20 pounds of restriction
so i changed them.

Colder than Mars? WTF?

From CNN.com:

Quote:

At Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire, the temperature will plunge to minus 35 degrees Friday night into Saturday, weather observer Taylor Regan said. At last check several days ago, the high temperature on Mars was minus 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Minus 35? ¡Ay, caramba!

widgeon13 01-03-2018 01:16 PM
