very regrettable about the Porsches.
As for the Corvettes, it may seem cruel but we all know it's probably the right thing to do.

That was dumb, sell them off and put the money to good use. He will probably be looking to borrow money.

That's what I was thinking. Bunch of money down the drain. But, ya know, gotta show 'em who the boss is.

For their rule of law, and their society, I don't see a problem with it.

It also guarantees the law breaker can't just go and re-buy their car. It is truly lost to them.

Odds are if you ran the vins they’d come up as California cars that went missing 15 years ago.

The US has a largely different culture, I wouldn't advocate that we do what APAC countries do when it comes to crushing cars like this, and I wouldn't argue that APAC should do what we do.

Oh, and I really love my Corvette I picked up a few weeks ago, great car. A modified 930 Turbo is the only Porsche that comes to mind that could compete in the fun factor with it.

Nearly spilled my coffee laughing.

Actually, they are lucky he didn't have them shot in the street for tax dodging.

Looks like Philippine external debt is only $74 billion US, so its not like they needed the money if they did sell the cars.

$3million would have bought a lot of useful stuff for some of the poor people there.

They only destroyed about half of the almost $3 Mil worth of vehicles confiscated...so i suspect these were stolen or there was some reason they could not sell them...and a little over a $1 Mil (likely retail when confiscated cars usually sell at auction wholesale) is a relatively reasonable price to pay for such a powerful commercial against criminal activity.

They likely did keep the best cars that were not stolen out to sell.

The government last year destroyed more than $2.5 million worth of cigarettes bearing fake tax stamps.
Looks like this is the way President Rodrigo Duterte gets free publicity.
