Movie soundtracks

Man, I love movies that really make an effort to make the music a cast member. Songs I’ve forgotten sometimes come rushing back to me in a movie.

Electric light orchestra. Mr blue sky!

What a great song. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Haha.
When that song came on, it was such a great flashback ..I remember a much older cousin playing that song when I was a tiny kid. If you forget the Afro-hairdo on white guys; the song is pretty timeless.

Name some great soundtracks.

Atomic Blond has some great music from the late cold war era.

Sadly, the new film was heavily influenced by what is today known as 'west coast' synthesis. The original film used more musical, Moog inspired sounds. The music in the new film is garish, and nearly takes over some scenes with how abrasive it is. Awful as far as I'm concerned.

When it's time for beautiful relaxing music, the soundtrack for Manchester by the Sea can't be beat.

Try Frankie Lane singing a narrative ballad in the movie Gun Fight At The OK Corral. Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.

Try that one on for size.

Not necessarily my favorite, but certainly the most significant.

Quote:
Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Sound Track is the soundtrack album from the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta.
In the United States, the album was certified 16× Platinum for shipments of at least 16 million units.
The album stayed atop the album charts for 24 straight weeks from January to July 1978 and stayed on Billboard's album charts for 120 weeks until March 1980.
In the UK, the album spent 18 consecutive weeks at No. 1.
The album epitomized the disco phenomenon on both sides of the Atlantic and was an international sensation.
The album has been added to the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress for being culturally significant.

Watched the movie endlessly in college with my friends. We didn't know which was better, the movie or the music. Together they kind of magic.
