Here...you would never see a court...wasn't a hit on your driving record etc. just a VERY profitable $ grab by the camera companies with a 10% kickback to the city. They didn't even go after the driver....just a shot of the rear plate...your vehicle, guilty :(

FU and the horse you road in on....didn't last long :)

If not a judge, perhaps a local TV station would find this an interesting news item...an outraged citizen armed with a stopwatch and good math...lots of photos marked with circles and arrows, and writing on the back of each one explaining what it is.

Kid. Have you rehabilitated yourself?

In MN they were ruled unconstitutional (state constitution) and they all got taken down.

Same here in Florida.

Some of you folks live in really backward states! :D

I swear that 80% of the hitch mounted bike racks here have never seen a bike.

Get busted for DUI and you'll have to do more than be
fined $50 and have to pick up the garbage in the snow.

I gave a presentation in 2008 about this. The identifier everyone missed, it didn't work in Virginia in 1996!

Studies show, if you lengthen the yellow, it's not quite the deadly fellow.

Here in Germany I have noticed an increasing ignorance of the red light. There are always 1-2 cars driving through when switching to red.
No change in light-times. Just ignorance.
and of course not if there is a radar/camera.
I have also wittnessed that the pedestrians have green light and a car still drove by.
As our children have to cross some streets with heavy traffic on their way to school I have had an eye on this for some years now.
And the ignorance is obvious.
The police does nothing.

This was not the case lets say 4-5 years ago.

Here in CO they take pics front and rear. No front plate, they include that on the ticket. They got me too.

So if your unnecessarily large SUV or pickup takes a long time to stop, drive it more slowly, so that you lessen the risk of killing someone with that overweight ill handling vehicle.
We have had traffic light cameras here for years. Has reduced the number of Amber Gamblers, thats for sure.

cstreit 01-23-2018 07:23 AM

We had one here in town that would snap your photo if you were even an inch on the white line in the right turn lane that was marked "No turn on red"

One night I triggered it. Didn't break the law - but got photo'd. So I did what any normal anarchist would do. I backed up and moved forward over and over - about 20 times while waiting for the light to change to green.

Never got a ticket. :)

My suv is necessarily large. I needed the towing capacity and the sleeping room plus room for gear

I got dinged while doing 60km/hr on an empty 3 lane wide road in front of a police station

There was nothing recless or irresponsible other than reaction time

I often look for early warning of a signal change by the flashing hand on a crosswalk sign but I didn’t notice one at this intersection

wayner 05-12-2018 05:50 AM

Problem solved!

I bought a ratty old pickup truck for hauling, and a sportier sedan for daily driving around town. With my same reaction time I no longer have to crawl below the speed limit between cameras wondering if the light is about to change.

goodby one car does it all SUV

Way to go Chris!

red light cameras and speed zone cameras are "for the children's safety" which is, IMO, a code word for revenue generator.

I hate all of them! living in Chicago, you will never find a red light camera in downtown Chicago. Hmm I wonder why that is. I have never done a study but it would be interesting to see a map of these cameras and the make-up of the neighborhoods they are in. I seem to remember during the last mayoral election a number of red light cameras were removed from neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the city.

will they ever go away? No I don't think so.
