Now I did a LOT of stupid schit in my youth....but chomping down on a delicious looking pod of Tide detergent wouldn't have made the cut

. So we need TV ads to tell them it's not a good idea....seriously?

I imagine today's Tide pod eaters are the same as the "dollar dare" kids of my generation. Many of those didn't make it out of their teens or 20's.

All of the articles I've read claim this is a trend yet cite no specific examples.

If I had to guess, kids are doing it then posting it on social media.

It's probably the story of the week in our news cycle....probably the 5th time I've seen it on the news in the past couple of weeks, and I don't watch that much news....y'all can prolly tell

Tide pods are easier to get than Colt45 for a teenager.

I remember as a kid one rumor was you could take 3 aspirin and chug a Coke and get drunk. Even as a 8 to 10 year old it sounded stupid to me and I would never try it. I guess the results were not usually fatal for that.

At least, I was never remotely that stupid on my worst days.

I guess I didn't hang around with other kids that were that stupid either, although I'm sure there were some.

All of my stupidity involved driving cars really fast in sketchy conditions, with a B.A.C. that was probably not legal. With some of the muscle cars my friends, and I had, it's amazing we are all still here, and in our 50s.

The kids doing this are posting on Youtube. It really boils down to how many views and likes they are getting, the more the better - their recognition. Eating poison is secondary.

That wouldn't surprise me. They're having way less sex than when I was a kid (it requires being in the same physical place as another person), so they have to find a new way to piss off their elders.
