Truck thief caught in the act!

Unreal! Despite being surrounded by some good samaritans and eventually several police officers, this idiot refuses to give up trying to hot wire a vehicle!

He probably figured the it always works in the fast and the furious movies, that HAS to be real, so give it a try.

Maybe he figured if he keeps trying he'll know how to do it right the next time once he gets out of jail.

There is always someone wanting to shout "police brutality" but it seems to me that the amount of apology or explanation of why force needs to be used is based on the race of the criminal.

Did the cops really have to break the window?

It worked.

Here they would have just shot the guy in the head and moved on.

The owner had the key fob, could have unlocked the door with a cop at each door. Several tries and the guy inside could not keep relocking it?

Maybe the theif inside kept his finger on the locking switch?

I have never owned a car with a fob, so these are questions.

Key fob lol
That run of chevs don't use anything special for the keys. No transponder, no laser cut keys. Key fob is separate device that locks the doors, and half the time they don't even work.
Very popular to steal as pretty much everything from 99-07 are the same.

I've never hot wired a car. Is it that "easy"....like in the movies ... on older vehicles like the 99-07 Chevs?

The key for my GMC service truck unlocked the doors of almost any GMC/Chev vehicle.
Was like I had a master key. Wouldn't work in the ignition though.

Yes, you are imagining that. It's a straightforward report. Not what you're used to on FOX, but it's what's called "news reporting".

The thief was doing the right thing mathematically, 100% chance of being caught if he gives up and gets out, and a small chance that he might get away if he manages to get the truck started. The chance of success was very small, but he looked desperate.

Pop the ignition, put in a screw driver, or really anything to turn the cylinder.
