A couple of firsts today...
Got into Boston this afternoon to meet our son while he’s here for the Harvard/Yale/Princeton swim meet.
Took an Uber from the airport to the hotel, then dinner and back. First Uber rides for us. It was quick and fun talking to the guys. They’ve all been great. Our kids have been using them for years. First trip to Boston too. Not sure how much time we have, but what’s out there to see? We leave Sunday mid morning. Ms Rocket wants to see the JFK Library. |

I use Uber all the time when I travel and love it. Most taxis are like a 3rd world country, Ubers are always at least decent and the drivers are frequently interesting to talk to. Typically the prices are at least 1/2 the price of a taxi.

I haven't gotten into a cab in the US years, until last weekend.
We arrived at Miami Airport and had to get to a party. We requested an Uber ride, and after waiting 10 minutes of seeing the car go nowhere, we canceled the ride (wife's account haha) and got into a waiting cab. OMG what a POS. Taxi driver was obviously sick, drove like crap, and the car was, well a *****ty cab. To top it off, it was 50% more expensive. I have to laugh at people who say they won't take Uber because they won't get into a strangers' car but will get in a cab where they have ZERO idea of who is driving them. I will never get in a cab again if I can help. Oh, Uber in Buenos Aires is great. Incredibly cheap and nicer cars than the ratty cabs. I see a pattern here.

It was kind of weird. They pull up, you hop in and say, hi! They know where you’re going and no money changed hands. For such short trips, we didn’t buckle in. Might need to fix that.
One driver had a son at Princeton, studying neuro surgery. A 10+ year education. |

I did some genealogy work, traced part of the family back to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, although it appears they didn't like the way things were run and moved to Hadley, then Hartford. |

Uber has been awesome for me except the time I was stuck in Dallas due to weather. I got picked up by uncle buck in a trashy caddy who was smoking a $2 cigar. He played good music though and we bounced down the highway and got to my departing flight on time.

Well, we are back home. Didn't get to see as much as we wanted, but we had a great time visiting the city and seeing our son for a few minutes
![]() Lots of restaurants with great food. Uber was the way to go for transportation. Spent about $200 with Uber, but it was cheaper than a rental car for 3 days, with parking fees, etc. |
