Took down some trees today
I have two long leaf pine trees that are over 100' in my back yard. Both leaning toward the house. We've had two hurricanes in the last two years and we figured we were lived on borrowed time. Well today was the day they came down.
This is tree #1. It was 32" in diameter at the ground. Here it is... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1518830785.JPG |
The guy said the "spider-lift" cost him $75,000.

Tree #2 was the one that worried us the most. Right next to the house and leaning towards it.

If it ever fell it would cut the house in half.

For this one they tied a rope at the top and had six guys pulling on it.

I was beginning to get worried at about this point..

They seem to come down a lot faster than they went up.
I had a 48" basswood (linden) taken down a couple years ago for the same reason. 1/2 hour after the crew left the trauma of killing something 100 years old and healthy was gone. |
No more pine cones hitting the roof!
And my wife is happy. |
