Sounds good to me! |
My granddad drank a swig of moonshine every morning as his feet hit the floor and every night as he got in bed. He lived to be 90 years old. The same with the founder of the company I work for that lived to 94 and my Moms uncle that iived to within a month of turning 100.
None of them drank any sort of alcoholic beverage socially at all. Never actually saw them drink. They drank only a swig or two every day to two of their favorite Liqueur. Granddad liked moonshine. Founder of the company liked a liqueur that had the same name as his family name. Mom's Uncle liked Jack Daniels. Founder told me his doctor said that anyone that drank alcohol before they were forty were ruining their health, and not drinking any after forty was also ruining their health. Noticed it on his breath late one night doing some product photography for the company and asked him about it. Never actually saw him drink. Remember when 3 years old went for a car a ride with Dad and Granddad. We drove around the countryside near Granddad's small town home. They would point out where someone used to live etc. At one point we stopped and Granddad put mason jar in a tree stump with a couple of bucks in it. We continued to drive and stopped at a little cafe in another close small town and they had coffee. On the way home we stopped at the stump, Granddad got out and picked up his mason jar filled with a clear liquid. Remember him telling me it was his stump water. |
Two beers every night for the last 10 years. After 50 years of tossing and turning I found a way to get to sleep. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

While I’m not above occasionally getting carried away I just genuinely like beer, and so does the wife. I’ve quit drinking on a few occasions which does help with weight loss but I never felt a damn bit better. I’ve met people that have no vices, they are boring.:p |
I've always said my vanity would get me to quit drinking one day. Well, at 50 my six pack is gone but I still have at least 2 drinks a night so I guess that wasn't true.
Do I have an AUD? Sure but do I beat my wife, wreck my cars (OK sometimes), miss work, etc? No. I do make a conscious effort to stop at 2 drinks (maybe 3 or 4 if it's Lite beer) so I'm certainly way better than I was the first 45 years of my life. I'm also afraid to completely give up alcohol because I'm worried I'd do something foolish like buy an airplane. |
If I stick to wine I'm okay but like Seahawk vodka is my Kryptonite...
So I stick to one/three glasses, usually to unwind after work. Call me crazy but I'm considering edible Mary Jane as an occasional substitute. |

I find that allowing myself a beer or two any day of the week has me drink less overall. I have managed alcohol intake for a long time by not drinking during the week but it left me hitting it harder on Friday through Sunday. The number of total drinks consumed per week remains the same, but if only drinking on weekends, there are too many per day. Maybe more fun in terms of catching a buzz, but not good for your system. I'd say I'm a mild case. |
After my last medical checkup, my physician advised me to put a bar in the shower. I have obeyed his suggestion

I gave up beer years ago because it made me feel like the Goodyear blimp. I have always and still do enjoy a nice glass of wine or scotch , even sherry. But I have slowed my intake ALOT. I currently have 12-ish bottles of very nice single malt and about 20-ish bottles of wine in the basement. It will take me a long time to finish off all of that.

Take it FWIW, I've often heard it said, if you think you have a problem with alcohol, you probably do.

So if I intend to go out and get drunk, does that count?;) |
I think all the drinkers have scared away the non drinkers that like to talk about themselves on this type of thread.
I drink every day. A couple of beers, a glass of wine and maybe a martini after dinner. Very, very rare that I am noticeably drunk. Maybe that is the problem as I'm good at it. lol |
