Crock Pot Pressure Cooker

This is not the novelty item I expected it to be. I hate food made in crock pots so I had low expectations going in. I am delighted to say I was wrong.

The wife bought a crock pot pressure cooker for herself for Christmas and I was blown away at the soups and Indian food that she made and in minutes rather than hours.

The pressure cooker popularity in ROW is well known, but we've only used our stove top cooker for canning once a year. It's clumsy and a little scary to use. This plug in version is easy in comparison.

I'll post some pics later as so far I've been too consumed with astonishment to take any pics.

Anyone else using one or more of these?

I bought a 6 qt. CrockPot pressure cooker from Amazon, too. Opened it, but haven't used it yet.

We have one and we made a chicken and rice dish in 23 minutes from turning it on. Cooking raw chicken that fast was something I was skeptical about, but I understand what pressure cooking is. The chicken was just super tender and juicy. The rice was wild rice and took on the flavors of the rest of the ingredients. We will have that and other meals from the cooker soon.

Yep, my wife bought a self heating/timed one last year, and we have had some amazingly good meals in a very short time. Kinda freaks me out hearing the pressure being released, but probably safer than the old burner top canning cookers. The nice thing is setting it up in the morning, setting the delay timer, and coming home to a wonderful smelling house, and good tasting/healthy meal with very little effort.

i kinda started a personal slow cooking movement in my kitchen years ago. i love it. i love how it makes a house smell, and how it just slowly warms the kitchen. the big dutch oven braising away in the oven.

i tried a pressure cooker. it worked like a charm. fast - efficient. i did have to add some acid to the food to brighten it. it is muted a bit in flavor and needs a squeeze of lime to wake it up. big pot of beans. mexican Frijoles.

i love the planning and walking back the time to figure out when to start the oven.

if i was in a hurry..yup. big counter top pressure cooker.

my pressure cooker was old school. the jinggly bleed off valve you have to get just perfect. it was odd and nerve racking..i donated it.

that's what my Mom used to cook the very cheap meat she and Dad could afford. I often wondered what would happen if that valve didn't jiggle just right.

In 79 I bought a Rival Crock Pot which I still use. In 13 one of the first things I found in a Thrift was a Fissler W German pressure cooker for $12. A year later I found a Kuhn Rinkon Swiss pressure cooker for about the same money. And a big 23 Qt Presto canning pc for $3.

That's how KFC has always done their "fried" chicken. Have a local cafe that does their fried chicken that way. They call it broasted. They have such good pizza and calzone rarely get the chicken though.

Understand that is the ONLY way to cook and eat Carp. Never tried it though.

I have three Fisslers and a Presto Pressure Canner.

The best for Chili Verde, Chili Colorado, Chicken stock, smoked Turkey Stock, beef stock, vegetable stock, any kind of marinara, any kind of soup.

Now with all of that I got one of these;

Very Convenient and does a remarkable job.

Nice kitchen that you have there. Everything is so clean and tidy, almost makes me want to think that you do not cook in it. But since I know you I know that is not true.

That electronic gizmo looks intriguing.....may have to look into it.

For now.....I have 4 different size slow cookers. Two are the old fashioned 'collector' Rival ones......the other two are made by Crock Pot and are larger.

Just made Turkey/Veggie soup with the biggest one this week and it turned out fantastic.

Love using a slow cooker!

Have not used my pressure cooker for a long time but still have it somewhere. Always made me a little nervous, for some reason....

Haha. This is classic TABS! He’ll find the negative with damn near anything he doesn’t endorse. Super funny.

Thanks for the laugh bud. Happy new year.

You have a bad ass chicken fryer.

The Instant Pot is great. 4.5 star review on Amazon with 24,000 reviews. Although as mentioned, the electronics/control panel rival mission control at NASA and take some getting used to.
