I use them all the time, just moving stuff from here to there. Today I had a big old pile of stuff to burn (brush, etc) it was too big to set on fire and walk away. I just jammed the forks into the pile, curled the bucket, and dragged a bunch off to the side. I took the forks off and pushed the stuff I set aside into the fire as it burned down. You do have to be careful, but if you don't overload the tractor (in terms of both power and stability) pallet forks are incredibly useful.

I don't see acres of trees on your spread either . Moving/clearing storm damage, etc., big azz trees, massive piles of brush, the forks are used the most...I wasn't even thinking about regular fork lift tasks. One thing is for sure....the Deere (or other similar beast) is essential...

No woods on property but enough trees to create mayhem when big storms/winds come rolling through across the wide open surrounding farmland. I always have a huge brushpile on the corner of the property to burn. When the big long stuff comes down, I use a chain attached to the bucket to drag to the pile. Lighter long stuff just gets layed across the bucket arms. Still makes short work of it, but a couple of times I could see where forks might have worked also.
