Wow, that's a big ask with just the pics provided.

I'll give it about five posts till the answer comes to light, with this crew.

Some Fifties American car, Plymouth or dodge?
Just guessing here.

Cheers Richard

looks more 40's to me. Any clue as to whether mounted horizontally or vertically?

(edit)

Wild ass guess, Packard...perhaps earlier than this one.

What size is that?

Are you sure it's a rear brake light and not a rear side maker light like the image below?

Taters Scout II build - Page 2 - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

EDIT: I just read down, looks like that's it.

Whole car:

The original photos posted really flattened it out, makes it even more amazing that someone guessed it.

Definitely 1947-1948 Hudson. Definitely. Dad let's me drive it in the driveway. I'm a good driver.

Thanks to pwd72s for guessing the proper decade. Wouldn't have been that easy if he was wrong.

From there, you gotta know how to use the google. Type in "40's glass tail light" and it's in the 13th row. Pic says it's Hudson. Open another google search and search "hudson tail light" and it's right there. Go to ebay and confirm. Post results here. All done in about 3 minutes.

I'll confess to originally using that old fashioned search method...memories. Remembered Packard lights being squareish.

nah, that was a Roadmaster

I guess it helps that Paul is a venerable old fucher, probably saw one parked in front of a pool hall, in 1950.
