New Owner - '03 Toyota MR2 Spyder
I finally found one. First day on Craigslist, I wired them earnest money, they pulled the ad that evening.
'03, original owner (deceased car collector), 5 spd., 20,000 miles. $12,000. Story from family is that his cars were housed in his warehouse and that this was one of many cars that he never drove in foul weather, not even the rain. I received 55 photos and many of them show an almost factory-fresh car...I've included a few here. Delivery day is supposed to be this coming Tues. I've always wanted an MR2...well, certain years, that is. BTW, I found that the MR2 forum, Spyderchat.com: The Online Community for Toyota MR2 Spyder Enthusiasts!, to be quite informative. Thanks to the recent thread, "MR2 Spyder", my interest was again piqued...so I searched...and found this one. . MR2 Spyder . Craigslists Nationwide "Ad Hunter":.. Congrats. Looks like a bunch of fun for not a bunch of cash. Great score!

Looks like fun, but why 12k for a "perfect" car - I would have bought something with 100k for 4k and drive the wheels off it. It isn't going to be a collector car anyway.

Because I'm tired of working on cars/bikes. Plus, I like it when sch!t works. I'll pay to have the pre-cats done...something I'd do 3 years ago, but no more. I'm old, my days are numbered (health) and I have the moolah.

The MR2 was the last of what was left after the old man (96) sold his stable a couple of years ago. A bachelor, no kids. Apparently he loved cars and military vehicles. He was a tail gunner...fell in love with Jags and Euro cars...imported many as well as military vehicles. His caretaker drove him around the state to car shows in the MR2.

At first I didn't like the colors...but the car itself changed my mind. Would much prefer one of Toyota's other colors ('cept black)...but, oh well. eh? The MR2's presentation needs to stand out and scream, "Look at me! Ain't I something!!!" There's an Anthracite Silver with a Maroon top and leather interior that's hot looking. This one seems to be understated and hiding in the weeds.

Actually I think the darker more subtle colors look better on the MR2. I hate them in yellow and red.
