The lost tavern
I've now spent about 2 hours trying to find this bar tavern that a friend and I randomly happened to in 2014 close to Hershey. It was one of the wonderful and rare times when you just pull up to a place and hope for the best because you are crazy hungry and it turns out to be amazing. They had these habanero wings and fantastic local beer that just made the night. honest, authentic food, there wasn't a frill in miles.
Can't remember the name of the place. I usually take a pic of a sign or a menu and title but no luck. Have zoomed in on I78 and followed it for miles trying to find the exit which I can remember because it has unique characteristics. Yelp'd wings near Hershey. Taverns. It's gone. There was a Sheetz across from it. And a tiny used car place. Going to Hershey in a few weeks with same friends, need to find this place. It's gone. |
Try Tripadvisor. Search or ask on the Hershey forum.

seems like the thing to do is look for the sheetz. There don't seem to be that many "near Hershey"

What comes up when you do a search of gay bars in Hershey?

Arooga's in Hummelstown?
Its a Harrisburg based chain...but ok, scheetz across the street. Arooga's Rt. 422 | Aroogas Or Boro's, its more of a local dive. Also down the street in Hummelstown. |
Going through email, I've narrowed it down to 2014. Working on finding any kind of credit card receipt on Friday April 18. From email, turns out we stayed in Harrisburg. Have used the locator that Paul posted but no luck so far. Have also googled hotels in Harrisburg and none match the face that I think I remember.
Going to try Yelp in Harrisburg now. |

Thanks Greg, the journey, just seconds ago, has come to an end.
I found a gas purchase at a Shell station in my paper records, credit cards don't go down that far. Found that on a map and plotted the course from Harrisburg to there. Given that, there were only 2 Sheetz's on the way. Found the one and recognized it. Zoomed around and found the restaurant but it was sold and reborn as Grill 22, back in 2017. Ted's Bar & Grill in Lower Paxton Township closing ahead of its big move | PennLive.com |
Thanks but the original one wasn't Ted's, I am pretty sure Ted's would ring a bell but it doesn't. I will call Grille 22 and see if they know who the last owners were before Ted's. Of course I could be completely wrong but I don't remember it as Ted's at all.
|
Just talked with my friend, it was Ted's. So with any luck we'll go to the new Ted's. Thanks dad!
|
Pretty sure that's it Shaun. If there are local sports team pictures on the wall, that's it.
|
If you read the article, that place has been Ted's for a long time. I don't think there's any question that that is where you ate and you're just not remembering it correctly. The good news is, the new location has the same menu.
