When looking for a back seat, I would avoid the ones with the headrests, my 533 had those and I ended up removed the one from the passenger side, makes a annoying blindspot.

Quicksix, did you get more info on that car?

Thorough cleaning with degreaser. Two coats of flat primer and two coats of Rust-Oleum heat resistant semi-gloss. .

They came out quite well. Nice job.

The headrests are independent of the seat. The rods go through holes in the parcel shelf and attach to brackets on the trunk side of the bulkhead.

That makes sense, the 533i was gone a long time ago, 3 other 5's in between.

SoCal911T, You know there cars very well, do you have a bunch of them?

Previous owner dropped off a box of spares. Found the original badges. Now polished and cleaned of all adhesive.

E34 m5 throwing stars. Real ones. At first I didn't like them, but they've really grown on me. Pretty lightweight too and they fit over the brembos.

pavulon 07-07-2018 04:46 PM

Does all this work make you a long term owner?

Glad to see you didn't replace them, they really are perfect for the car.

I really like how this one turned out, and, of course have stupid money into it (the hand patterned & stitched oem materials interior was somewhat eye-watering)... So a keeper I'd imagine.

I've avoided BMWs for my driving life, but they're growing on me. It also doesn't hurt that the 535is is a rare car and about to hit the nostalgia crest of collectability.

Philosophically I'm trying to sort out where I want to go with my car collection. I'm a relatively young guy and don't really have huge amounts of room in the city to keep acquiring these things. I want a 76 xjc 6,a hammer SEC, a 944 turbo S, F355, etc, etc, etc...

That thing is just going to appreciate like crazy. It's got all the right stuff.

Nice..
