Wow ZZ TOP

Zed Zed Top coming to our little town!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1523194278.jpg

Hope they bring their hot rod.

Nine, Frau! 04-08-2018 05:48 AM

Enjoy the show. Billy Gibbons is a god. Best 3 man band ever in my opinion

mreid 04-08-2018 05:54 AM

They played at my companies Christmas (oops, holiday) party in 2014. It was simply amazing!

Enjoy!

flatbutt 04-08-2018 06:04 AM

The "Legs" video is fun to watch too. I hope they bring their fuzzy guitars to the show!

mreid 04-08-2018 06:10 AM

And their cheap sunglasses!

Seahawk 04-08-2018 06:11 AM

I saw then in 1976 in Savannah, Georgia - Brownsville Station was the opening act.

ZZ Top was incredible.

Any band who made an appearance in the Back to the Future trilogy is OK in my book!

astrochex 04-08-2018 06:41 AM

Seen them a bunch of times from their hey day of Eliminator to last show at HOB in Hollywierd. Tried to get tickets to see them play locally but it sold out.

Billy Gs playing is so cool and unique, there is no one like him. Dusty and Frank are as solid as it gets.

herr_oberst 04-08-2018 06:51 AM

They gotsta get paid.

Tobra 04-08-2018 07:00 AM

They are from the little town where my residency was based. Yeah, they rock.

Toast54 04-08-2018 08:13 AM

Saw them in Tulsa in 71'. No beards (Dusty may have a had a short one), no sunglasses, pretty basic but worth going. I believe a band called Ramatam, with April Lawton, opened. She was a pretty good player in her own right

Nine, Frau! 04-08-2018 08:19 AM

Billy was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player.

tevake 04-08-2018 08:19 AM

Cool, haveing them come to play in your town.

YP, you ought to send Billy a pic of your car and invite him to go visit the harbor with you. He'd probably enjoy it.

Cheers Richard

VincentVega 04-08-2018 08:26 AM

I saw them maybe 25 yrs ago, cant believe they are still at it.

(Thanks, Barry, and thanks for the flash drive, I sent you a PM!)

I've seen ZZ a couple of times, once with the big expensive set during the MTV days, and once where they just had a couple of Tiki huts off the sides that Frank and Billy walked out of and started to play, no theatrics, just a minimal light show, nothing to distract from the music.... Both times I had fun, because it looks like they have fun.

But, I thought they just GOT paid...today as a matter of fact!

Crowbob 04-08-2018 11:59 AM

Why they gotta do concerts?

Aren't they beards enough awesomeness?

And they cars. BadaZZ.

astrochex 04-08-2018 12:29 PM

That is such a cool video. Cool groove, cool cars, hot babes.

My vote is for Rush in the 3 man band category. I really like the older ZZ Top stuff from LaGrange.

looneybin 04-08-2018 03:48 PM

Saw them at the strawberry festival in 83
Great show
They will be headlining the midstate fair in Paso Robles in June with George Thorogood
BTW, the drummers last name is Beard (the only one that doesn’t have a beard)

ckcarr 04-08-2018 04:51 PM

Three man bands have always ruled when they're good...

Jimi Hendrix Experience
Grand Funk Railroad
Cream
ZZ Top
Rush
Police
Emerson Lake Palmer

And on the lighter side
Crosby Stills Nash (Although it's almost elevator music)

Showing my age...

That's a great list.

I would also add Genesis and James Gang.....

I have been a big ZZ Top fan since Tres Hombres came out. We have seen them live and it is nice to hear La Grange at the proper volume, 11. ;)

jcommin 04-09-2018 03:41 AM

Billy Gibbons plays a very good guitar!

javadog 04-09-2018 05:01 AM

Not only are these guys great players with an endless catalog of good material, they are showmen in the old-fashioned sense of the word. You really owe it to yourself to see them at least once. I've been attending their concerts for more than 40 years and there's nobody quite like them. What Billy Gibbons can do with a guitar goes beyond what you hear in his recordings.

In the last decade, they have played a lot of small houses and ticket prices for those shows are cheap, compared to just about any other band. They've been around about 50 years, I don't know how much longer they will continue to tour. See them now, if you can.

They came to town a few years ago. It was one of the best concerts! They definitely love playing, when the show was over, they did an oncore of about 10 songs. It just went on and on and was fantastic.

javadog 04-09-2018 09:08 AM

In their encores, sometimes they'll do an old Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin tune. I have to say, they do them better than the originals.

Same here....soundtrack of my teens ;)

They bad....they're nationwide...

ramonesfreak 04-09-2018 11:11 AM

i'll be at the june 23 show. john fogerty will be with them. looking forward to it. seen just about everyone except these guys

Tidybuoy 04-09-2018 12:23 PM

The only downfall of the concert that I went to was the opening band, who was Joan Jet. At the end of her very nice set, she gave a 5 minute lecture on being vegetarian and ultimately got booed off stage.

Frank Beard ain't got no Billy/Dusty beard.

Saw Dusty in Cleveland airport in the 90's. He was surrounded by about five fans.

Nodded and he responded in kind.

Sweet.

astrochex 04-09-2018 03:07 PM

I met Billy at a hot rod show in Pomona. He signed my La Grange CD. It gives me perma grin thinking about it.

His book, Rock + Roll Gearhead is one to look for too.
