a simple happiness - finding a GREAT sandwich place.

i am literally basking in the afterglow of eating half of the best sandwich in the Sonoma Wine country.

i had the lady wrap the halves separately so i dont hyper-wolf down the entire thing..

the second half is just sitting there..the siren's song!

sandwiches are my thing..i LOVE it when i find a great sandwich.

okay, i'm done.

in Northbay CA, Micheals Sourdough.
in Eastbay..Cannesa's brooklyn subs..(<---my undisputed best sandwich EVER is there)

OK, we don't have to have pictures, but with that description, we do really need to know what was on the sandwich at least.

I grew up eating various types of sandwiches from grilled cheese to what my family called hoagies which are basically just subs. I love a good sandwich. Cuban sandwich, dagwood sandwich, grilled cheese (with fancy bread and cheese or just plain old bread and cheese), sandwich that is cold, hot, pressed.

I've always loved a good meatball sandwich, and we've got this place which is the best meatball sandwich that I've ever had.

they bake their own sourdough. you order a sandwich, some dude with oven mitts will go and pull out a piping hot sandwich loaf; if your timing is good. if it isnt, they are still hot but under a blanket. he pulls it out and slices it in front of your face. the smell, the sounds.. then special sauce, local cheese (swiss for me), the usual suspects in term of veggies.., today i got 50% turkey 50% pastrami. spicy mustard.

the bread heats up the rest of the ingredients. it is nuts how good it is for a simple sandwich..my east bay shop is more gourmet. marinated tomatoes, eggplant..etc. it is unrivaled.

No description the sandwich at all? Really?!

From top to bottom
Sourdough white (real sourdough would have been much better, bread makes or breaks a sandwich)
Course ground mustard
Boston lettuce heart
Vidalia onion
EV olive oil & red wine vinegar
S&P
Tomato
Mayo
Smoked ham (could have used one less slice)
Muenster (let it sit out and get to room temp)
Grilled chicken breast
Italian roast beef (could have used more of this)
Red wine vinegar
Salad cucumbers (needed another layer of these)
Mayo
EV olive oil
Sourdough white

Hey, now don’t everyone hog pile on me, but I really like the Jimmy John’s sandwich chain- the bread is so good, sometimes I will even buy an extra loaf to just eat plain.

They don’t heat anything up, so I will get the BLT and when I get home microwave the bacon before I eat it.

I like the roast beef too, but lately been getting their Italian sub.

Chris. Please go to Canessa's Brooklin Deli in Clayton. i'll put that sandwich up against anything in the country. it's right there near Skipolini pizza..(that sucks)

i get two..the Stromboli and the Godfather. bring wife you can swap halves. i do not take any responsibility for knocking every other sandwich in your life down a notch. i used to ride my bike there.
