CZ, no not the fake jewels............

A CZ rifle, that is. In this case, a CZ 527 Lux chambered for the .223/5.56 cartridge. The neatest thing about this rifle is the trigger mechanism. It is completely adjustable with take up, sear engagement, overtravel and reset adjustment screws. It also is a single set trigger! Pull weight is about 3 lbs normally but when "set" the weight drops to about 1 pound! The stock is a European design with cheek piece and a schnabel forend. Weight is just a bit over 6 lbs. The scope I put on it is a 6-24 AO, 1/8" min. turret adjustments and an adjustment on the ocular lens for fine tuning. I bore sighted it using a laser bore sighter that loads in the chamber like a cartridge and did the final adjustments at the range this morning. I had to wait for a spot on the rifle range so I just had time to get the scope zeroed in. The fun shooting will come later. A picture;

I had to remove the rear sight leaf to make room for the scope bell but I will leave the scope on it most of the time anyway. A company by the name of Williams makes a rear peep sight that attaches to the rear scope base. Will probably get one of those to have "just in case".

CZ stuff rocks. Love my 75bd, my 455 Varmint in 22lr was nice.

I'd love a 527 in 762x39

That rifle begs for a scope. I’d remove the front sight as well to make it all more streamline looking.

I’m always on the lookout for a 452 American. .

Have been aware of their rifles for some time. Getting into action pistol shooting and turns out they are near the top of the heap for several classes in handguns as well!

Nice to see a company pursue a market like this.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

Very cool, Fred. CZ has always made excellent firearms.

I like seeing .223/5.56's set up like that, rather than the ubiquitous AR platform or heavyweight varmint rig. Here is my kinda sorta similar idea, on the Ruger M77 action. I alternate between the open express sights and a Leupold 3-9x scope:

It's only money! If you don't spend it on things you want, you will only waste it on things like food and shelter!

Nice looking Ruger! Looks like it's one of the big bore express rifles! What I refer to as a "Boom/Thump" gun! Those are fun to shoot but not for general plinking outings! By the way, I sold an AR15 and replaced it with the CZ! I had to have something to use all the AR ammo that had come to live at my house!

Yup, from what I was told by the proprietor in the shop where I purchased this, Ruger made them specifically to satisfy customer demands for a "practice" rifle that would mimic the look and feel of their big bore thumpers. They did a great job of doing just that.

American firearm manufacturer to build a safari gun! Back in the very late 1800s, Winchester built a few double rifles on one of their double barrel shotgun frames. These babies were in caliber 70/150/900 by the nomenclature of the day. That is 70 caliber, 150 grains of black powder and a 900 grain bullet! The cartridge case looks a lot like a full brass 12 gauge shotgun shell except that it is slightly necked down to get to the 70 caliber size and it uses a large rifle primer instead of a shotgun primer. I think muzzle velocity was somewhere in the 1200-1400 fps range! There were only a small number of the guns made (probably 5-6) and the cartridges are quite rare today. The cartridges will bring about $500 each to a serious collector!

I couldn't agree more, Fred. An affordable, American made double rifle would be a godsend. In the meantime, I've made do with what pretty much everyone else has made do with - bolt action .375's and .458's. Not a lot of romance, but they sure do work.

My current battery includes a Model 70, an Interarms Mark 10 Mauser, and a Ruger #1 all in .375 H&H. My current .458 is also a Ruger #1. The single shots add back in some element of the romance of a double, but some would question the wisdom of using one on big critters that fight back. I've found, however, that I can reload one very quickly by wearing an Uncle Mike's stretchy nylon cartridge holder as a wristband on my left wrist, which places cartridges very close to where my right hand winds up when I push the finger lever forward to open the action.

I've scratched my double rifle itch, and satisfied my penchant for the unusual, with one of the Pedersoli Kodiak double barreled muzzle loaders in 12 bore. I haven't hunted with it yet, but I think it would make a dandy feral pig shooter. I hope to find out this year.
