Anyone else using a soda stream?
Mrs WD and I went out for some retail therapy and came home with one of these SodaStream do dads. I really like it! I like carbonated water - I find a cold glass of lightly carbonated water more refreshing than plain water. Mrs WD has tried to make some flavored sodas in it, and really likes the Root Beer. For me the big advantage is I can give the water the level of fizz I want. It's never too fizzy or not fizzy enough.

Yep, for about 8-9 years now. Bought it for use in the motor home. Can make as much soda as I need/want without hauling a ton of it around. Also their diet drinks are made with Sucralose, not aspartame.
Walmart has a Lemonade which is not carbonated. I like it better when it is. There are a bunch of flavors you can carbonate without buying their house brands.

I got one not too long ago at Costco. I think it's pretty much a basic model. I quit buying diet soda some time ago but like the carbonated effect in a drink. I tried some of the flavorings but didn't care for them. Now I put a bit of lemon or lime juice in the glass and a packet of stevia. Some times I mix it with half a glass of something like Gatorade if I want something with electrolyte in it. It's become a regular thing.

I LOVE mine.
I used to drink liters (that's quarts to you guys) of orange juice a day, then got the soda stream and decided I liked soda stream water the most. I lost about 8 kilos in three weeks. I thought I had cancer and had to go out and buy new jeans,Anyway, back on topic. Yep, love it with a splash of lime, and recently have ot onto a non-caffine, low sugar, cola for soda stream. So that's my new drug of choice. |

I love that fizzy greatness too. Just run out of GAS.
Made in Israel. I tried to have an opinion on that, but just wanted some fizzy water.

You can really cut down on the cost of the gas by getting an adapter and using either the paint-ball cans of gas which can often be refilled at sports stores or sometimes home-brew stores. You can also get a bigger tank that I think is even cheaper. I think those are about 18" tall.

great product, we use it all the time..
Don't waste your money with those concentrated syrup, we dilute orange, cranberry, etc. juice and is really tasty! Also my wife buys the lemonade (that stuff that is really sweet by itself) and pours a little bit in carbonated water and its really refreshing!

Got given one 40 years ago and hardly used it.Tried giving it away recently- no takers,so it ended up in the charity shop.
What is wrong with buying Israeli made product? Don't tell me we have a Hamas supporter from New Zealand on the forum?

Soda stream is great. Plain carbonated water, soda water, without the endless throw away plastic bottles. Ever thought about the carbon footprint of bottled water?
I do think Soda Stream are gouging on the gas bottle prices tho....

PS "the endless throw away plastic bottles." Yeah, those are made of PET and are the most recycled plastic.
And, even if you did throw them away, (you pig) how many would you go thru to equal the mass of one soda stream machine?

Island, I'll certainly defer to you over any matter concerning gas. But in my house, it means 6-8 plastic bottles a week we dont acquire and dispose of.

Bought an adapter years ago to refill from a standard co2 bottle. Our local grow supply houses refill the big cylinders for $8

We only have one vine planted a few years ago to see if they would grow but the first year it produced grapes we harvested 18.5#. Too much to eat or make jelly with so we juiced them (no bare feet!) also and strained the juice, put it in bottles, carbonate and viola!
We plan to plant more now that we know they grow here.
