Vegas has gone crazy

I read today the north factory outlets are charging to park your car.
Whats next----soon there will be toll to enter Vegas on the freeway.

Charging to park your car at a shopping outlet ? They are begging for Amazon to make them an irrelevant memory.

On Sunday, my wife, and I, along with another couple traveled to Ann Arbor Michigan for some shopping, and noticed that the big outlet mall, we used to buy from is now a ghost town with weeds in the parking lot.....thanks internet !

It sounds like part of the problem is that now that the casinos are charging for parking, people were parking their cars in other places that didn't charge.

The best (although still not perfect) solution would be to charge for parking but validate it with a purchase over some amount.

Some restaurants in downtown OKC charge for parking. I don't play that game. There are thousands of other places to eat. I will not pay to park, and I will not park 1/2 a mile away for free and walk to the restaurant, I just go someplace with good parking.

And any mall that charges to park is crazy. In a few year they will be begging for anyone to come park for free and shop there.

They also market to locals now, not tourists so much.

what next?..sandwich shops asking, "so will you be needing the bread up-charge?"

When I was a youngin we would do Vegas weekend road trips, cheap food ($5-$10 buffets) cheap rooms ($20-$30) free booze (you didn't even have to be gambling, they would literally had it out if you were even just standing in the casino).

My last trip a few moths ago was just that, my last trip, too many nice places to vacation for much less money.

I was charged for water over the weekend when we had dim sum as we didn't want hot tea on a hot day. 1.25 for each person including the kids.

Charing for parking was a surprise when I was there for a conference last year. 20 bucks in all the casinos.

On our last road trip to Park City UT we drove through LV and stopped for the night in St. George UT. Vegas stopped being a destination for us 15+ years ago.

We still stop at Vegas if we head out that way if we have a late start and get there a couple hours before dinner leave early next morning. Last place for good food and good hotel. Then its Holiday Inn Express and coffee shop type food until we get to our destination.

We have been to several that do that in Sand Diego and in NE WI.

I try to stay away from the Strip at all costs. They can charge all they want, I'll never pay it. Mrs. Lee does, however, like to go to those outlets, but I always drop her off and then come back after I've been to some gun and music stores. Never will pay for parking, will just go elsewhere.
