Bike To Work Day - Tomorrow 5/10
So, tomorrow, here in the Bay Area is "bike to work day". Are you biking?
Vash, will you put on some fenders? For me it is bike to work day almost every day, connecting it with the train. I average about 70 miles / week commuting. Tomorrow I may go the entire way in the morning - 40 miles. If you haven't bike commuted - here is the chance to try. Aid stations and goodies all over the area where I live: https://bikeeastbay.org/events/btwd_2018 Happy Biking! G |

Every day was bike to work day for me for a decade until last fall, when my office moved to a ***** location in BFE. I still do it, but I often drive because it saves at least an hour and a half a day and sometimes I just want my time back to do...anything. Even go for a ride after work
The train assist makes it doable, and I typically ride to the Loop in the morning and take the train south, then ride 25 miles home in the evening. Driving to work kills my soul

Get off my lawn!

Nope, I will get dressed, kiss my wife goodby and tell her I am off to work. Then I will walk the 14 steps down the hall and turn on my computer. I will not even put on shoes.

Bike with a motor I could do. 16 miles of hills with a human powered bike, no. Plus the short section of 4 lane they don't like people riding bikes on.

I wear shorts and a t-shirt most of the time.
I will get dressed enough to go outside to put water in our fountain in the front garden most mornings.

Awesome, Vash. That's what this day is supposed to do - get people to try the commute (again) and get into it.
My station was nice, but a lot more lame in the food department. I got some free stuff, including a tube. I rode from home all the way - 40 miles and 1500 ft. climbed. Some of it was gnarly in terms of traffic - not going to repeat it often due to that. Tonight they have free beer at Whole Foods - first pint is on the house. I will swing by there and then get the train to bridge - like I do every day ... G |

too cool
My area just isnt bike friendly. I even drive the ~8 miles to the bike trail to ride. Roads are just that bad. I rode to work once in a while years ago, NOVA was great. A mile or so to the trail, easy ride then only another mile or so to the office. Even had a shower available. Pancakes are awesome! |

Starting commuting again last week- took the winter off, just took too much of my day and it sucked. I go 20 miles each way.
Our bike day is the 18th, but I get in before 6am and all the fun free stuff happens starting at 7:30. In the morning I stay mostly on roads until I hit downtown Minneapolis then I hop on the trail under the Twins Stadium and ride the rest of the way on the trail. Going home I take trails almost all the way except from the back of the fairgrounds to catch the Gateway Trail- about four miles on the road.
