More than just the fear of tariffs. Steep increases for several years. Heavy demand

12) 16' lengths of T&G clear redwood 1 x 6 and a few Rdw 2 x 4's plus one 4 x 4 post for a fence vertical extension. Price out the door — $997.00 !!!

Client wanted to continue the extension another 24' in length so I went back for more and it was $460.

Glad he's a rich cat. Wood fences are out of the question anymore.

Trump's tarrifs

As I understand it, this is only collected from companies that are given the timber free by the Canadian government and is proportional to market costs for the timber land harvested.

It is just an equalization of some players. Any company that owns or leases its own Timber land would not be effected?

I'm fairly certain the real driver is a spike in demand, the long bull market has people buy crazy.

I think you are correct. It is a pissing match that has gone on for decades.

I don't think it's market related....the housing debacle of a decade ago just took years to recover from....nothing new was being built around here until 3-4 years ago, and it's been steadily increasing since...everywhere I go. Pent up demand....and you know what....people are still addicted to cheap credit....which sucks :(. I'd bet most of the new buyers are still mortgaged to the max....it's the new American way....

A pick up where it left off will likely result in a repeat. It is nuts around here.

For the last few years no contractor would even bother to return my call to look at the job.

I'm only flexible small fry piecemeal project work. Perfect for down times. The big fish go for big food in the meantime. But after a few years, after the large scale projects are all built to saturation, after the money has been spent on Escalade pickup trucks and timeshare interest/maintenance payments, they will be hungry again. Thankfully.

What I’d give for $3.09 diesel here. It’s $4 and rising. Seems to happen whenever a certain political party takes office, really strange...

And yes, EVERYTHING is going up, yugely. It’s all in the plan.

No worries about tariffs and our increased oil exports abroad because we all have so much more money due to tax cuts! I am still figuring out how to spend last months extra $16.00. Oh the possibilities. :D

Exactly. The tax cut for regular people is a joke while for multi-millionaires, it’s large. And the cost of everything goes up, not in a small way. Usually, they just cause some extra drama in the Middle East but this guy is special, he’s attacking the middle class from several directions. :(
