Porter Cable Pancake Air Compressor
I bought one of these and am asking what is the trick to getting the attachments not to leak air? I bought an accessory kit but all the bits seem to leak whether I'm filling up a tire or the kid's inflatable toys. Is there a quality accessory kit or do I need plumbers tap on the threads or something? I know its a newbie question so my apologies.

Use Teflon paste or tape on all of the threaded fittings or you'll have leaks.

Check that drain valve is completely closed at the bottom.

If you are talking about the quick disconnects, get good quality Milton fittings from NAPA, not tractor supply, or lowes .
All those cheap ones leak right out of the box, or 10 uses in . The good ones last for months of daily use here in the shop .

Make sure drain valve closed, but be gentle those things snap off, and use teflon tape on attaching fitting ends.
But between the end connectors you can't really do anything about (precision ball check valve and seat I think). Sometimes twisting it around works. Otherwise replace the ends. Just like motion sensor lights there is usually a 80% fail rate. |
