God bless Google

62 in August. SS starts in September payable in October.

Today (2 hours ago) I send an e-mail to my father about my benefit.

Now (ten minutes ago) I am getting cruise ship ads on Youtube rather than car advertisements. (linked into the Phil Hartman vids)

Eff me. Really?

I keep getting something about Russian prostitues.

Honestly, I've only been googling car parts too.

Weird. Whenever I click on your posts, Bob, I get ads to buy Bob Wollek merch from ebay...

Zuckerman says they filter that stuff out. Suspect youtube and facebook policy is similar.

I do get youtube vids suggested on how hard the work is in the porn industry.

Just saying. No clue.

I want that GT1 model now that the coin will be rolling in. (field test)

it's no big deal really.. they just pick up on keywords you send out.

It's not like they are storing a diary of you.
May 30 Bob talks to his dad about retirement benefits, send memo to ad department to target focus his advertisments with a Geriatric profile

It works like so

You send out a message with certain keywords
The application drops a cookie on your pc for those keywords
next time you visit an site with ads, the ad engine picks up the cookie and provides matching content.

There's no dark secretive profiling database or anything, it happens on your pc.

If you use Gmail or Google Docs NONE of that content is private. Google owns it all and has rights to access it all (and they do). If you want it private use third-party encryption software BEFORE you attach, or better still don’t use Google for anything.

I'm curious about your decision to get SS benefits early vs. waiting . Not judging but our financial advisor is STRONGLY suggesting my wife and I wait at least until we are 65 . I'm not asking you to share any personal info just the general reason/s you chose early vs. later . I am retired and 60 so I will be making the decision fairly soon and same for my wife . Have fun with the additional funds !!!

We had a recent five page thread on SS right here, Rick:

When to start drawing Social Security

Baz yes I followed that thread and like a " what's the best oil thread " it made my head explode There is no single right or wrong answer as everyone's situation is different and unique . That's why I asked Bob the question I did . His answer will be just another data point for me .

I will state the obvious here but we all have to make that decision with one HUGE data point missing............ how long will we live ? Speaking for myself I retired at 59 and I'm now 60 . I am generally very healthy but was diagnosed in 2015 with prostate cancer . Happy to report that issue has been solved but I could wake up dead tomorrow . It is that possibility that makes people pull the trigger early on the SS benefits in my opinion . Again just speaking for myself I worked pretty much full time from age 15 to 60 . I don't like the idea of paying into the system for 45 years and not getting out the most I can .

So do I start at 62 live to 80 and get 18 years of payments ? Or wait to 65 ( as an example ) live to 80 and draw 15 years of payments but at a higher dollar value per month ? My wife and I are both retired and both have pensions so that is what we are currently living on . We built up a nice nest egg and have a financial advisor helping us manage the investments . So far we have not had to touch any of our investments but we are paying 1000.00 per month for crappy health care insurance . Everything we own is paid for so we are in a good position . Our financial analyst is very strongly suggesting holding off on the SS and he's probably right . Sorry for the long answer and good luck to any/all that make their decisions on when to draw .

Mother made it to 67 then had a stroke. Father had a triple bypass at 75 although still with it at 82.

I'll take the money now.

So that would have been a cookie that G-mail dropped since I sent him an e-mail?

Agreed, that'd be a waste of time.
What we should be considering is what is the best WAX to use.

Meguiars has a wax called NXT Generation 2.0 Liquid Wax. I like it but then again I still like rain dance.

Easy to apply and lasts a while. Ad does not say synthetic but I have the impression it is.
