Time to put some bags on my motorcycle

I tend to research the crap out of things.

Everyone tells me to go with soft bags. I get it. Makes perfect sense. I’ve narrowed it down to MOSKO bags. Anyone running them?

I think I just want the two side bags. I would run a regular waterproof duffle in the middle. Unless that’s a bad idea.

I’m itching to take trip one day. Soon

Thanks.

What do you need to carry, how often? I like a little trunk on the rear for simple groceries and such.

^yep

I bought a '98 BMW R1100RT for commuting duty and it came with factory hard luggage, including a top case. First time in almost 30 years of riding I have had hard luggage. I will have at least a top case on any/every motorcycle I own from this point forward. I put a GIVI case on my 2016 KTM 690 Duke. I'd put one on a Ducati Superbike too...I don't care how it looks...it makes a motorcycle 20x more useful to have lockable storage attached to the bike all the time. Wanna pick up a 6 pack or a gallon of milk on the way home? No problem. I can stash a full face helmet in the GIVI, or I can stuff my Aerostich suit in there and lock it up so I don't have to walk around looking like an astronaut.

I agree... Hard Bags offer you the ability to lock stuff up, and offer some protection. They also create a stable platform to stack more soft bags/kayak bags on for extended trips when you want to bring more stuff.

I put some soft bags on my bike which I really liked. They are great for trips to the store and the hold a surprizing amount of stuff. Mine unzip to make evern wider.

My only complaint is that after a year & a half, they are worn and need to be replaced. Both sides zippers have stopped working and only open/close one way (i.e., each bag has double zippers which enable each to be closed half way).

I believe mine are SW Motec. I do like the styling and would love to find a hard case that is about the same size.

people i stop to ask about their bags; it's universal. everyone suggests soft bags. they all say if you happen to topple over they will get bent and will never be watertight again. i dunno.

i would ONLY use them for trips. i dont grocery shop with my motorcycle. at least not yet. i tend to buy a lot. i would remove them for day to day stuff, since splitting lanes is a large part of my ride.

Same here. I would think that hard luggage would hold its value much more for resale when/if you change bikes. Good for crash protection, also.
Yes, a platform for more stacking. Good idea.
.
I built my own rear luggage rack for my '69 BMW R60US. Hauled an over-stuffed chair home from a garage sale. I sat on the tank.
Not topic related, I know.

That's my GS in the picture.. (I'm taking the picture). I love the MM bags. This was on a 5 day Motocamping trip in Death Valley. Doing a 2 week motocamping trip next month going thru the Idaho BDR.

The bags are extremely durable and I have had zero issues with them...If I have any complaint, its that they are a little heavier then typical soft bags because of the mounting system. depending on what your doing, you might also look at their rack less system. When doing off road stuff, I only use my soft bags. All four of us have hard bags as well....I agree with others though about a topbox, when I'm commuting on my bike, I only run the topbox. Super convenient.

Not sure where you live, but your welcome to check them out in person.

I split almost daily as well, so I do not run the side bags as they make the bike a bit wider, and I traded paint once with a car in traffic because of the extra girth of the side bags. Top case stays on the bike 24/7. Always a place to stash gloves, gear, extra clothing. Lockable and secure.
