Anyone else seeing upgrade your browser note from PayPal?

I have an email note this morning titled "Important Update: Upgrade Your Browser."

"To meet the new PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) required by all websites that hold payment data, PayPal will no longer support outdated web browsers.

During this shift, your personal financial info will remain secure. All you'll need to do is upgrade your browser on each device that you use to log in to PayPal.com in order to maintain your access after June 30th. Upgrading is simple, just follow the easy steps below."

I'm running Mozilla Firefox 60.0.1, there's only one more update I'm aware of, 60.0.2.

Is this legit?

Assume it is legit, it would've been sent to all of their clients. I'd check mine, but I filter my home mail into folders I can't get to via my webmail setup.

Safe to ignore - you are up to date.

Was there a link in the email anywhere at all? If so it is a real scam. I would look at cnet or other reliable computer site to see what the current versions of browsers are and compare with yours.

Hmmm, I didn't receive that email from paypal. I probably just wouldn't click on any links in the email. It's always a safe bet to keep your browser up to date anyways!

It's probably legit, or at least, it should be. The important thing to do is DO NOT click a link in the email if there is one.

When they say "PayPal will no longer support outdated web browsers" what they really mean is probably something like "you can't connect if you're using IE 5 or Firefox 25 or....

Usually that's due to folks having REALLY OLD stuff, not like you where it's maybe a couple of weeks or maybe a month or two old.

It's kind of like folks using an iPhone 3 or 4 or original iPad. That stuff is years out of date and won't run newer software.

You don't have anything to worry about.

I got one last week. No idea what it said as soon as I saw the link I marked it as spam and dumped it.

If you want to be sure, go to paypal's site from your computer's saved page and see if it works.

Thanks fellow Pelicans!

I appreciate the responses...
I'm always cautious with unsolicited emails, pop-ups and such. Too much junk out there that will turn your PC to spit.
People with that skill set needed to write the codes, social engineer and blast it out all over the planet should be capable of attaining a legit job.
I for one, wish they would.

Something is fishy. I clicked the link Masraum provided and according to it my browser version is OK. So why did I get an email saying it isn't? What am I missing here?

My guess is they sent the message to everyone (probably not all at once, probably in waves).

They don't figure out or keep track of who's got what. It's much easier to send the note to everyone and let them figure it out.
