Garage
mreid is 100% accurate. Leave the bird feeders out and within 2 years you will find him in your kitchen. If you don't want them around, don't invite them by leaving out tasty snacks.

You truly have no outdoors in your blood to want to entice something and then make them pay the ultimate price for doing so.
Should you not do right in human eyes and honor their rights?
You should not feed anything as you have limited ability to comprehend the bigger picture.
Its people like you that move onto communities and ruin them.
The stuff you are running from, you bring with you and reset it.
Then you wonder why the neighbors hate you.

Your place will be a regular buffet stop until you remove the food source.

Twice, I've picked up large trash bins of garbage scattered thru my yard by bear.....Put bins in garage for a month and no visit past 2 years.........

I think "harsh" is the label that belongs to the person that is quite clueless about the environment around them.
Like he stated,- he buys his retirement place and moves and wants to segregate the animal population by enticement and cruelty.

Once you remove a sow bear from the populace you remove the whole link in her lineage far as training.
There is no bear quite like her to teach.
They are very individual in their habits that they pass on to the next generation..
I ask that YOU think B4 you irrationally act on emotions.

I redesigned my thought.
I advanced to the rear.
I bearly had enough time to think of the clawfull results.
It was time for a chewy morsel of thought and regression.

I don't know what he kows---but to buy a place and invite the guest residing there to dinner, and then wanting to demolish them, does not seem too me so brilliant to me.

leaky seal-
I live where bears are.
The key is,- if I don't want them around, is, don't entice them.
Pretty simple really.

Am I recalling info correctly from a documentary?
Bears can smell grub 3 miles away.
.
I love bear docs. Especially Polar Bears. Don't ask why...dunno.
Hate to watch bear hunting shows.

My wife enticed them when she first moved in.
I got to clean up the mess.

My trash cans are basically full of car parts and spent cans of engine degreaser. They don't get tossed over.

And the pic of my daughter answers the age old question- Does a bear sh## in the woods? No- He sh#$ in the yard.

Actually, with increasing regularity, they do, as it should be.

Putting the legality aside, there is the morality of it.

You don't get to create a situation (feeding birds), purely for your personal amusement, then when you get an unexpected result (bears), punish the bear for being what it is and doing what it does, over a situation that you created to begin with.

At least not in my book.
