Spinal fusion lumbar without the cage
Just out of op. Original planwas to use the rods and screws. But said theirs a nerve preventing it.
Doc left and nurses are not aware. I'm worried is stability issues. Anyone have an idea?

No ideas, but wishing you the best.
I'd suggest wait for the doc.

I'm hoping this isn't the same operation Steve Kerr had... Best of luck!

Doc left???? Is he coming back or did he get fired or thing else like vacation? I'd get a lawyer now.

Left for the night. 6 hours under.
He did rounds this morning; the rod and screw when in place put pressure on the nerve and took the judgments to not use them. I didn't know they could do a fuse without the cage to stabilize... Don't want to sue or lawyer up. Just curious of prognosis without the cage.

Good attitude at this point. Wait & see. Hopefully could still work out well for you. He obviously believes in "first, do no harm".

Research the procedure that was used on Earl Campbell, former University of Texas football player. His was a train wreck. Then don't get that one.
IIRC, he had a cage type with screws that caused massive pain to the point of wanting to end it all.

Hope you’re doing ok at this point. What have you learned since speaking with the surgeon?
