need guidance: DIY filler for 170mm x 40 mm cracked / missing paint

Hey everyone,

My buddy's 993 has a crack in the paint on the hood. A section of the paint has chipped away. It's a bit of an odd shape that is ~170 mm at it's widest and ~40 mm at it's tallest. I'd like to cover the bare area with a Mobil Pegasus, or Jagermeister,.sticker until the hood is refinished at some point next year.

I'd like to fill the void, left by the missing paint, prior to applying the sticker. Any suggestions for a DIY solution? I don't have any bodywork chops, but I'm hoping I can fill the area such that the panel is smooth under the sticker.

Any product recommendations and / or YouTube instructional vids would be appreciated.

Thx.

Why would your buddy let you mess with his car if you have no “bodywork chops”. That looks like filler under the paint already. If you must do this start by sanding back edges removing all loose paint. You can use body filler or something like dolphin glaze made by upol. Apply sand smooth and shoot a coat of sealer over it, then apply sticker.
I wouldn’t recommend it and especially in wet weather.

A) Yes, there does appear to be filler under the paint already. B) As mentioned, professional repair (which may include wholesale replacement of the hood) is pending for some time next year, so I am "messing" with it as a temporary fix in the interim. Thanks for the guidance.

Tape off the good paint super closely to the edge, apply filler on the bad part (several coats) sand problem area down to tape. Remove tape feather finish edges.

BTDT, but as always, sounds easier than it is. If you don't ruin the edges much you can have several cracks at it.
