1984 Rear Reflector Removal

Got home today, and alas.... there it was in the mail: a brand new mint rear center reflector for my 1984 Carrera Targa with the BLACK lettering!! Better than a Red Rider BB gun on Christmas morning...

That being said, does anybody have good instructions on how to remove the existing reflector? I have looked at it and don't see an easy way, all help is appreciated!

on an 84 it just pops out. There are two rows of fasteners that need to be very gently pryed out and it will come free.

Cheers

I know the 87-89's had the clips, but I thought these were bolt-on? Is there an insert that the reflector bolts onto that you pry out? For reasons you can imagine I don't know if I can bring myself to pry it off!

As jeff said, GENTLY (and I'll add SLOWLY) pry it off! I recently removed one from my 83. The thing I found is that those 3 center clips are actually glued on to the reflector section. Apparently age weakens those glue joints as a couple of mine detached at the glue joint as I carefully, gently and slowly pried it off. I am going to reglue mine once I have finished playing around with refinishing it, but you should not have this problem as you are putting a "new" one on. Good luck!

I will definitely be careful and take note of the clips. Of course it's "new" in the sense that it's never seen a car and in absolutely mint condition. Like I said, better than Red Riber BB gun on Christmas morning!!
