small rust spot repair.
I have a few small rusted spots which I want to tend to immediately..
I have a bottle of touch up paint which will be plenty to do the patch work.. but what else do I need? the rust spots are under each rubber door sill near the back part of the sill (seemingly where the weld/metal overlap is). I was replacing the rubber door sill, and found these two rust spots. ![]() ![]()

I hate to be the bearer of bad news bro but that looks like the signature of classic rocker panel rot. Mine looked just like that 6 months ago and after I sanded off the paint there was rust in the latch panel, outer and inner rockers, and even the forward part of the quarter panel. It was compounded by one of the POs who no doubt spread copious bondo and repainted to cover it up. I recommend getting an awl or small screwdriver and poke around, and sand down to metal if you find something. Keep in mind that the rust is almost certainly coming from the inside. The jackpost area is notorius for trapping dirt and water and serves as a focal point for rust.

I looked into both sides and it was only small surface rust. Nothing to be scared of, but thanks for making my heart skip a beat!!
I sanded it down and put some POR15 on the surface. I'll paint it and then re-apply the rubber sill moulding.

Mark-
Great news. Sorry to put the fear of god in you. I've just seen this many times on the forum and experienced it myself. It is comforting to know that sometimes it is just surface rust. It should be an easy repair.
