Rear Bumper Support : What am I missing and What Shall I do?
Here are some pictures first of all :
Rear Left Bumper Support ![]() ![]() ![]() Rear Right Bumper Support ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see, the Left appears to have more metal bits attached to it than the right (ie its longer than the right). Also, the interior corners are also a bit rough on the left. I suspect that this car may have had some work done or been in a bit of a bump up, either way, it needs work. I know I kneed the pipes which hold the bumper, and the shock absorbers for the bumpers too... So my questions are: 1. What else am I missing that I need? and 2. How shall I go about repairs to all of this? Thanks a lot! Ian |

The left side has the keyway extension for the tow hook installation. Nothing wrong. The bumper tubes will attach via the two vertically positioned studs.

Ah great, thanks Jamie. Does this keyway tow hook affect the installation or set up of the bumpers at all?

I think from your questions you are trying to get back to stock bumpers. If you are for whatever reason thinking fiberglass aftermarket bumpers, you can ignore all this. I and others no doubt will have suggestions if that is if fact what you are thinking about.

I would prefer to go back to the original stock bumper configuration, yes...

In retrospect, I was wondering if that extra piece of metal sticking out will even interfere with the installation of the rear bumper? If so, maybe I can just leave it on because it won't be seen or affect anything structural anyways?
