Hi guys. I need a word of advise on this one..
My car, a '82 911 SC, has been repainted recently by a professional body shop. The disassembly and re-assembly of all parts was done by myself (no that's NOT the problem/cause ![]() While I was re-assembling the car I noticed that the rain gutter on the left side of the car wasn't 'straight'. Then, when I looked a bit further in to it, I also noticed that the door frame (between A and B pillar, under the gutter) had a bit of a wrinkle in it. So, that's not good... Also, I noticed the car has had a hit in the right front corner. My conclusion: the car has had some kind of collision with the right front corner and then tipped over on the left side. Weird thing is, the roof itself (above the gutter) seems to be straight. I have to say, I'm a bit of a mister perfect and all damage is quite minor. (even though I know many of you pelicans wouldn't want to live with it either). The body shop guy didn't even notice it (not a Porsche specialist, probably just thinking 'old car'). I also have had the car aligned and given a tune-up by a Porsche specialist (actually 2 in the time I have had the car) and they didn't notice it either. Alignment was no problem, so I'm thinking (yes HOPING) that the frame is still straight. Also, when the car has been imported in Belgium it has been measured and I guess all numbers were correct, otherwise it wouldn't have passed the test. Now, the question: is it possible to remove/repair the rain gutters and replace the part of the frame that has been bent without having to repaint the car entirely (again)? Thank you for your insight :-) Tim |
