Best 911 painter in socal?
Just had my 911 repainted and the guy did a terrible job. I didn't contract for the work but super unhappy with it. It took way too long and was not cheap. Can't mention names. Car needs to to be sanded down ( probably not to bare metal) and resprayed and cleared. Exterior and door jambs but interior compartments okay.
Any recommendations ? Must have significant 911 experience, not take months and cost not as important as the prior two points. |

I don't know what you mean, "I didn't contract for the work but super unhappy with it."? How did the car get painted if you didn't have them paint it for you? How did you find this painter? Did you look at any of his previous work? In progress work? Was it an insurance company referral? Once it is painted badly, one might assume that the prep work was equally bad. This might be costly to correct to make sure the next paint job is correct. Please post some pictures so we can better understand the quality issue. Best wishes.

The person/company that was doing the mechanical work on the car was also project managing the entire build. They had (apparently had 10 911's with this painter) this what I call captive painter that did their paint jobs. They marked it up and I was fine with it since they were responsible for it. I was told he had done lots of cars for them and the work was outstanding. I am price is not my issue type of customer but I expect the work to be of very high quality. The job was suppose to take 6 weeks with the mechanic removing all the mechanicals and then putting all back together. The body didn't need any body work but we were changing the color from metallic to non metallic slate gray. Well about 4 weeks beyond when the car was suppose to be back I insisted on seeing where it was getting painted. I went to some werehouse ( no spray booth) and meet the painter at 10am. He appeared to be drunk and smelled of booze. I was not happy and let the project manager know that I was concerned. Let's just say 8 months later I saw the car and the paint was shrinking under the clear. It was reblended in several areas and looked way worse than when we started. I pulled the car and took it to a specialist in paint correction. Bottom line was that he could not do much with it. Some areas came out great and other areas didn't even have enough clear on them to sand out. The project manager offered to have the car repainted but not having the car to drive in over a year I didn't want to lose it for multiple more months. We ended up clear wrapping the the entire car and then ceramic coating it. It looks okay but I have aciuple show quality cars and know what it is suppose to look like. My plan is to drive it for about a year and then strip it all down and start over. Looking for a SoCal painter. I know about Esposito but he is slow and ridiculously expensive for the level of work. I want some one that knows and paints almost exclusively Air cooled Porsches.

Wow. Sorry that happened to you. The car has a nice look in the pictures. I hope you did not pay for the paint work. If it were me, I would post the name of the shop responsible for this mess.

I'd say Kevin (KevinP73 here on the board). He's done several projects for my husband and I over the years but I don't think he's entertaining any new clients nowdays. He speaks very highly of Eddie Palmer in Venture, Kundensport I believe the company name is.
Maybe reach out to both of them for more valued input. |

For me it would be important to know what the painter used as far as materials.
