Rocker rust on '87
I recently did a suspension refresh and when I removed the rocker cover on the driver side I found a pretty big rust spot at the rocker/quarter joint. I was aware that there was something going on as I had a few bubbles last year up on the sill seam right above it. The rest of the car is rust free besides a few small rock chips and a bit in the fuel filler area.
Looks like it's my turn to tackle the job. I'm not too scared to dive in, but would have love to do so in the winter! Also, it appears that there is seam seal behind the panel and around the jack tube. My '81 does not seem to have this. Could this mean there was a prior repair here? ![]() ![]() |

It does look like a previous repair was made. This is probably coming from the indies back side in the wheel well. Lots of junk gets back there and hold water in.

A repair could have been made, but it looks like someone just back filled the area with seam seal as its soft. The other side is perfect with no evidence of rust at all.
