Need Education on Aligning Doors - before I go to a body shop
My '74 911 coupe has doors that are very hard to close. You must slam the passenger door for it to close all the way.
I am planning on going to a body shop to get both doors and possibly window frames adjusted but I thought I would get as much advice as I can first. Basically, when the doors are closed, they are aligned very well and the gaps seem correct to me. It seems that the passenger door frame looks like it hits the rear frame very slightly just before the door closes. I want to get as much advice as possible so that a shop doesn't tell me 10 hours when it actually only takes 30 minutes. These are the only photos that I have at the moment - to show gaps: ![]()

Check the door striker plates to see if it still has the plastic sandwiched between the metal plates. When this cracks and falls out with age it can make the doors hard to latch.

I own a Porsche restoration shop in North Hollywood, Ca.
I can help you with your problem. Give me a call at 818 469 1811 before you take it to a shop. I can explain it a lot easier on the phone. John John Esposito's Porsche Repair. |
