Targa to Cab Conversion
Hi all - I have an 81 targa and just bought a cab wreck. Unfortunately, the main bow of the top is broken. I have found a skilled welder who can do magnesium-aluminum alloy.
What I don't know is the correct dimension for the main bow mounting plates hinges to the body, outside to outside. I think it's somewhere around 135 cm or 53 inches. I have the factory targa-cab conversion manual, but this dimension is not provided. I have looked at cabs up to 993, and they all seem to be the same. I have porsche manuals for the 911SC that show body dimensions for body work, but this dimension is not shown. Is it shown in a later sketch? Could someone measure their car? 1981 911 SC Cab Converstion
I bought a 81 last winter that had the conversion done many years ago. As I understand it Porsche offered a manual cab top conversion kit. Remove the rear targa window. Add the pivot mount to the car and you are done.
Car looks great Drives great. I am told that the conversion does not effect the value of the car.......the car is not worth a fortune. |
