Aircraft Stripper
I have made a start to strip the paint and ordered 5L of this
http://www.rust.co.uk/products/produ...aft-stripper-/ However its not making much of an impression now there is definitely multiple layers of paint and is quite thick in places , I would still have expected more peeling to occur, a lack of product spec intsrtuctions its fairly cold here at the moment would that affect its performance ? do you leave it to dry or keep working it in wet? you can barely see the bubbling in the first picture ,scraped of in second picture. any advice or product recomendations welcome ![]()

The trick I have learned is to only brush the stripper one was only and put it on heavy. Let it set about half hour scrape, you may have to do it twice.. You do not want to breath this stuff.

It will help if you score the surface well before applying the stripper then cover the area with a light plastic cover to trap the fumes in. Let it set for a least a half hour to give it time for the fumes to penetrate the finish and lift the paint off the metal. I've encountered some primers and top coats that seem to be impervious to strippers but Aircraft Stripper is about the best stuff out there.

do not put on 944 phone dial rims
I made the mistake of putting aircraft paint remover on my 944 rims, ohhh bad idea, they are dust, i purchased new ones they were that bad,

Don't want to "work it in". Just pour it thick and spread.

It also helps to seal in the vapors by covering the area with plastic. I used disposable drop cloth plastic. Made a huge difference.

lol we use normal paint thinner for stripping planes. On topic Aircraft thinner is made for thin coats of light paint (reduces weight on aircraft) and very light or even no clear coat. Everything aircraft grade is always better for cars! I know that I can take some steel wool and scratch my planes paint right off down to metal with two or three scratches. That's how light it is.

No matter what stripper you use make sure you neutralize the stripper after your done. If you don't do that and leave some on the metal when you prime the sheet metal the primer in that area will stay wet and after everything else has dried it will still remain soft in that place. Some strippers are neutralized by water some by solvent such as laqaur thinner. It should tell you on the container
